engine swap?

OK iam really getting tired of this double diget horsepower "shee ot" and i was wondering if a d16z6 engine would be good to go with cause my friend has one and they have like 125hp and would it mount in my 1992 honda cx h/b with the original motor mounts, and if it does do i have to hook up the V-TEC or can i just leave it unhooked up any info would help thanks

your still going to be in the double digits with that engine....even though it has a 125 hp....your only really getting somewhere in the neighborhood of 85 - 95 hp to wheels. I know the number is wrong but its in that general neighborhood.

what do you mean by hooking the vtec up?

You can use the stock mounts. You don't have to wire vtec because it is already prewired on ALL (that's right, even the lowly CX) 92 civic harnesses, neato. It's not going to be all out fast, but it will still be fairly quick because the CX is so light.

hey madtownhonda thanks man for the info anything really helps iam only sixteen and still learning on this stuff. i just hope it will be a pretty easy swap, as far as any extras like new fuel pump or n e thing. thanks man see ya

no prob. you will also need the EX/Si ecu (p28)...you can find one on thepartstrader.com (make sure your carefull when buying, a lot of theives). Or you could probably find one at a local wrecking yard. You can use your existing transmission but it would be preferable to get the EX/Si 5 speed for the gearing.

ya iam getting the whole swap engine and tranny whats your oppion on this swap though, i am not going for balls to the wall power i just want somthing i can get on and not have to wait an eternity to get it up and going, and would it be a good engine to build up even though its a sohc and would it be good to go with turbo or n20 whats your opinon on it.

I think it's a wise swap for the first timer. I have an 96 EX engine that I am going to put into my 92 CX. I'm looking for mid 15s out of it but I am most likely going to sell it.

i saw a dyno on a stock 92-95 civic and it had like 99.xx hp to the wheels so any mod and your in triple digits. a cx with an ex motor will have quite a bit a pep for that car and your only 16 so this is a good route ide say. you can get a cam a p&p and cam gear and vtec contrloller and then your car will really hall balls. but start with the basic bolt ons i say learn what you want then in 3+ years you can get a new car and you will really know what you want. .02

ya excactly i just want to do an easy swap for my first one and a cheap one to so that way i can learn easy and not have to worry about a three thousand dollar engine iam going to f-up and thanks alot again madtownhonda for the tips and info it just makes my swap easier

thanks onsojourner thats what i want to do is do the swap then put some bolt ons. on it an learn about it and then sooner or later get into the big dog stuff keep it real

thrilla...if you want just go the Cold Air Intake, Header and Catback Exhaust Route...you car will sound alot nicer and will gain more power..not a tremendous amount but it will be noticeable. If you are planning on going with NOS I would have the engine tested to see if it can handle it.

what do you mean by handle it? like get a compession check?what else? and would it be better to do it on a built up head
