I have a SOHC turbo EX. I'm running a DRAG 3 Kit on 6.5 psi with stock internals so far. The kit ran me $2950 shipped and will run up to 8psi until you get a boost controller. I have seen single cam civics running up to 13 psi with stock internals. I'm sure you could do it also if you have it tuned right.

i'd say for the money get either a greddy kit or apex'i. the greddy's run anywhere from 1500-2000 and apexi is about 2500. i've seen dynos of the apexi that added 70+ horsepower on a stock ex with an intercooler at 6psi. both systems you should be able to run up to 14-15 psi, but i wouldnt do it often. you can net anywhere from 170-220hp on these systems with good fuel management. the DRAG kit just uses other companies parts. turbonetics turbo, spearco intercooler, hks or greddy wastegate, etc.

Greddy turbos are cheaper but they are cheaper for a reason. They dont come with as much parts as the drag kit and they dont produce as much power. The greddy turbo for the ex is a small TD04-15G, whereas the Drag comes with a t3/t4 hybrid (dwarfing the greddy). The greddy and apex'i also have internal wastegates which can boost spike more often and cause damage to your motor. My car runs low 14's in the quarter on 6psi, compared to mid 16's before the turbo. I should be hitting 13's soon and 8's in the 1/8. On 5psi i gained 50+ horsepower, on a very restrictive exhaust. I would say that with the drag kit on 6.5 psi and a good 3" exhaust and testpipe you should expect 180 hp. The drag kit can supply over 300 hp if tuned properly on the SOHC motor.

Ya Greddy Turbo's are legal in California but as soon as you put a BOV on it, The turbo kit is no longer legal in California. What is the point of having a turbo kit without a BOV?

thats why i am going to sc mine. to many restrictions and things that go with a turbo in cali. the sc will last me until i swap.

so why can't you turn you BOV into a bypass valve when you go to get the car checked?? factory turbo cars have a BPV. I'm glad I don't live in Cali, let alone have emissions
