Yellow headlights?!?!

i found the best way to rid those yellow headlights, i was always strongly against it but wat you do is grab 300 grit sandpaper, wetsand the lens down just a little bit, no more than 2-3 minutes should be fine, let it dry spot on some buffing compound and buff it out... looks nice when done... especially on my 92 talon....

Ive done that with mine but I stuck with a finer grit sandpaper --- 800 grit. I used Soft Scrub with bleach and my rotary polisher to finish it off.

Sanding the lenses works pretty good. I've used Mothers wheel polish to get the yellow off, that works pretty good too.

I would have liked seeing before and after pictures. Nice results on the after pictures.

Sorry, Still too scared to do it. Maxima headlights cost too much to chance it. Mine aren't yellow; they just look scratched up although they are smooth to the touch.

Same here. I actually bought Turtle Wax Polishing Compound a few weeks ago and used it on my headlights. It made them a little bit clearer, but not that much.

Use Meguires Mirror Glaze Diamond Cut 2.0 I used it on my plastic headlights and the difference was night and day (haha, a pun)...but seriously, they looked like glass afterwards!

my lights are practically butter yellow. after read this thread today i felt them and they're really rough. i thought maybe the color was on the inside but i guess not. i guess you guys are talking about sanding the outside part, right?

these things almost feel like they have spray adhesive or hairspray on them. maybe 300 or 500 grit would work best?

There are two products I know of that will fix the yellowing about 90 percent, and take about 15 minutes. One is a compound sold by a company in Durango, Colorado ( I think). It's part of the poly-hog headlight lens restoration kit. The stuff works great, and it's fast. Not sure if you can just buy the compound, but I think so. It's about $30 and will do about 50 headlights. You apply it with a polisher or even a cordless drill with a pad will work. They sell the pads too.
The other is a retail product- I think out of Miami. It costs about $30, and is made for basically 2 to 4 lenses. You apply a chemical (smells like oranges), then rub it with a blue towel. It's all done by hand. It works pretty well too. I can't remember the name, but I saw it in a dealership somewhere. Bright Lights? Clear Lights? Something like that. I may still have it if anyone wants the name.
