99 has a new life...

A few months ago, I had to replace the engine in my 99Ltz 3.8. I had a blown headgasket and the total came to around 4400 dolars after everything way fixed. Well, shortly after I had the engine replaced, the car began surging, stalling, etc... I've since given the car to my father in law. He didn't take care of the problem and eventually, new problems came up. He ran the front pads all the way down. The front passenger brake got so bad that he nearly destroyed a brand new ceramic rotor and actually had the caliper break in half and shear of the mounting bracket. Well, since the car was off the road I decided to do some work on his engine. Changed the oil, coolant, etc... Took out all the sensors on the throttle body. Also removed the idle air valve and egr valve. They were filthy...covered in carbon. The mechanic who did the egine replacement never cleaned them before re-installing them. I cleaned them very well, cleaned the intake and re-installed everytthing....Ha! The car now runs perfect...it runs better than it did when I got the car. He's since fixed the brakes.. After I had the egine done, the mechanic who did the engine replacement also did the inspection. They wanted to get another 1500 dollars from me so they could make the repairs and pass my car. Now that I've cleaned everything, all the codes are clear and I passed with flying colors. Total time I spent fixing it: 3 hours. Total money I spent fixing it: 10 dollars. Excellent!

I'd find a new repair shop and tell the shop that replaced your engine that I will not be back, as any shop worth a turd would have cleaned those passages and saved you a lot of time. BTW, $4,400 is an absolutely REDICULOUS amount of money for an engine swap on a 3800, almost to the point of being criminal.

Eeee GAD! 4400 bux???!!?? Umm, I hate to break this to you, but for 4400 bucks, you should have gotten a brand new engine that wouldn't have needed any cleaning. :)
Yah, time to find another repair shop. THIS would be the shop that I would send my ex-girlfriend/wife to! hahaha
