Quickest way to reset the timing belt??

Turns out my bro's STD has spark and fuel. When we move the dizzie back and forth it sounds like it wants to start. We both figured it was probably the timing belt maybe it jumped a tooth or sumthing.What is the best way to get to the tensioner without having to remove a shit load of stuff.Maybe if anyone can give me a link to a complete walk through that could help. When we tried to turn the dizzie 180 degrees it would not slide back onto the crank. Is it supposed to do that??

i usualy slide the timing belt off the top gear to adjust it but you have to be verry carefull and it takes alot of strength to get it back on. i found its easter when its hot. it should still run with the timing belt off a notch just not as good. it might be something else. have you checked your marks?

Easiest way to check is to line the crankshaft pulley up at Top Dead Centre(TDC) Take the camshaft pulley cover off and it will quickly tell you whether your cam is properly synchronised with your crankshaft!
Check that you have your ignition leads connected to your dizzy in the right order too...

How do I check the the ignition leads? If it's the ignitor that you're talking about, I thought if you had spark then your ignitor is fine. I can't see that it would be anything else but the timing. This is a list of the things that I do have:
-Power
-Spark
-No codes
-Fuel (main relay)
-Plugs are dark coverd in oil on the fire side.but the tips are'nt worn at all.
-New cap
-new rotor. (has a little play in it, rotation wise.)
-Dizzie, when moved back and forth the car wants to start.
I would just like to make sure that it is the timing before I start pulling the car apart.

Not drenched and dripping. Enough to see that I do need a new gasket set. My dad was telling me that if you can not fit your dizzie back on at 180 degrees then something is wrong. That true?

maybe you got water in your fuel line or something weird like that if it isn't your timing. because i had this problem this winter and it turned out that i got condensation that froze in my fuel line or something of that sort keeping my car from starting for like 5 days.

I can't think of any reason for there to be water in the fuel line. We are gonna' redo the timing in a short while. If the timing is set right and it still wont start then we will be stumped for sure.

My dad was telling me that if you can not fit your dizzie back on at 180 degrees then something is wrong. That true?
Honda distributors are idiot proof, they only fit one way.

The fact you have replaced the dizzy cap and rotor button, is why I ask if *maybe* you got your cylinder firing order mixed up?
Wanting to fire on a couple of cylinders and others firing wrong when rotating the dizzy is what made me think it before... 1,3,4,2 should be your order with cyl 1 being closest to the cam belt.

Well I kinda figured the dizzy was made to go on one way. We looked like a couple of cavemen foollin with a computer. As far as the firing order is concerned it's right on the money. My bro was hauling major ass when the car puttered its way to a hault. Fired it up made it to the driveway. It dropped dead right as he made it into the parking spot. been there ever since...(3 weeks now)

No codes at all. Just the one *blink* to let you know the ecu is running. It was raining out this past weekend so I could'nt work on the timing belt. This blows.
