Ok well, if anyone remembers that i had an altenator belt problem, i eneded up getting a new altenator new belt and such, The altenator i got was tested in very good shape. But i had a belt that my neighbor got from napa for me. The first time i started it with the belt, no screeching, ever since then, screeching for 10 seconds, then its gone, after the car is running for 5 min and turned off and on the screech is only a second at the most. Why would this be happening? I am also leaking oil from the oil return from the turbo, even tho.. i just put a new gasket on there. My oil pan is leaking but not to much, and my T case has some damage, but i don't think it is leaking from where the damage is. but there is oil all over it and the oil pan. Oil is coming out of my valve cover but that is an easy fix. What im really concered about is my altenator belt... i even put heat shields on my Exhaust manifold and the O2. thinking that it was frying my altenator, well i guess thats not the case anymore. Anyone have any advice? I noticed that one of the pulls kinda wobbles, but its very very hard to see, you have to stare at it for a little bit, then i think im crazy for seeing that so. who knows, i know alot of these problems are easy fixes, but that altenator needs to be fixed now. any ideas? There is some greese shooting up from the drive shafts but its not touching any of the belts or pulleys that i know of. I am sorry for such a long post, but i figure i should throw out all my concers at once then one by one. Sorry hardly any periods, but im in class right now. Thanks for the replys in advance, Aaron

Aaron, I had the same problem on my 90 GSX. I actually looked on this site for answers, but all of them are pretty general and they tell you to spray belt conditioner on it and it will clear up. DONT use that crap. It will just ruin the belt and not fix the problem. The reason that belts "screech" is because the belt itself is vibrating somewhere.

Lets take for example my alternator setup.
The belt runs from the crank pulley to the water pump pulley and around the Alternator pulley. When I looked down at my belt, I couldn't find the problem. I thought it was a bad bearing in the alterntor. So I got myself a 135A alternator to charge my sound sysytem. Hooked everything up and it still screeched. So I bought a new belt from Advanced and some belt conditioner. Same noise, exccept louder. So I got pissed and took off the plastic engine cover from behind the driverside wheel and watched the belt from there. Between the Alternator pulley and the crank, the belt was flopping all over the place. So I tightened my belt up with the tensioner and it helped alot. I tightened the tensioner until the belt no longer screeched but still had deflection to adjust itself.
Unfortunately before I figured out that you had to tighten the belt, i kpt loosening it and finally the bel just didnt grab the alternator pulley and I had to get towed home b/c my alt wasn't charging the sytem and I was running on my battery. But it did help with the screeching. And once your car dies, you don't hear the noise anymore! :banghead:
Give it a try. Worse that could happen is that it doesn't work. I bought a decent belt too from the store. It was made to prevent heating and slipping. Not just a traditional ribbed belt. Maybe that helps too. Good Luck!

so tighten it more? this is a countinuing problem... when i bought the car the car screeched th way it does now, but not as often. That belt was a weird belt, it had teeth shaped stuff that went on the altenator, not the lines or ribbed thing you are talking about from the belt from NAPA,well any way that belt snapped off, and i drove about a 1/4 mile home with no power steering or anything. But thanks for your imput =)

Click Here (http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail.aspx?mfrcode=DAY&mfrpartnumber=5040390&parttype=1063&ptset=A)

This is the belt I am using now. It is a Dayco Poly Cog.

You need to look at your belt from the side. Check to see if it is vibrating anywhere. That is most likely where your getting your screech from. You said that you thought your pulley was wobbly, that is also another good possibility. But I'd say check your belt deflection and whatnot first. My deflection is not where the manual says it should be. It is a little tighter. Sometimes the new belts aren't the same size (diameter) as the old one. Plus the old belt has shrunk over time too. Check that stuff out. You'll get it fixed sooner or later!

So after i tighten it a little bit, and if the screeching doesn't go away, you suggest that belt? that belt meant for 2.0 awd automatic? and you said as soon as you put that on it hasn't screeched since?

That belt is for a awd manual. But the same difference. It did fix the screeching for me so far for almost a year.

lol i put some belt dressing on my belt and it doesnt screech NEAR as much, maybe for about half a sec when the car is warmed up. It has worked for almost a year now.

Mine does that to, except i'm going to have the pulleys replaced, i checked them out and i dont like the amount of freeplay in the bearings, so hopefully that will help mine.
