i am wondering is it worth the trouble to go all motor (with no vtec) in a ls... i no u can do the basic i/h/e and camshafts but will the internal upgrades give you significant power???...i was looking to get around 200 hp all motor and i dont no if its worth it...ohh and low 14's in the 1/4....thanks

200? at the fly or to the wheels?
200whp in an integra can get you pretty close to a 14 flat. But other variables must be taken into account. Is the car a manual? Does it have LSD? Does it have suspension mods? Can u drive?
The last is the most important. A fast car is nothing w/o a decent driver.

oh yeah....you asked if internal upgrades increase power? Well if youre going all-motor then thats where ALL the power is to be gained. I say that if you want an extremely fast car go turbo but if youre going for cool/uniqueness go all motor.

Yes you can hit that i've seen a LS setup hit that granted it was pretty crazy build up was in the mid 13s if i remember.
Honestly there are much better and cheaper ways to make power but don't be fooled the LS can do well the key is HEADWORK porting&polishing and cams really open up the LS motor.
One upgrade that works wonders but doesn't effect your motor is a tranny swap LS trannys gears are long for cruising and highway mileage putting a y21 from a 99-00SI or a GSR tranny will help you alot.
I would either look into forced induction or an LSVTEC setup if want 200 and still pretty close to stock.
Aiming for 200 WHP N/A on an LS will put you near a race car short highend powerband and very high compression. But if you want to we can help with that or any other build up you'd like.

yea i was thinkin of going turbo at first and then i went to vtec but i think im just gonna go all motor ls...how much do u think it wil cost (estimate) for me to hit the 200 mark bc if its way high i might go turbo but if its about the same i wont....anyone else going all motor ls???ohh and ace$nyper where should i start with my project...i already have a short ram intake, axel bac exhaust :( , new clutch, new axel.. and lowered w a real stiff suspension

real nice head my friends shop has for sale.
http://www.quickwhips.com/sale.htm
that head and the intake mani is a good start you'll need a new set of cams
as I said before Headwork Headwork Headwork.
It'll cost alot to get it there range few thousand honestly. But N/A F/I whatever getting more air in the LS does wonders.

Stong rods, crower rods are great...and you want to raise your compression fron the 9.2:1 to 12:1
With this you have four options:
1.Keep stock bore
2.Keep Stock Stroke
3.Bore the block
4.stroke it...Larger crank, shorter stroke, bigger bore
If i was gonna go all motor this would be the route i would go...But it costs money to go fast, and if not built correctly it can get unreliable.
get some nasty cams with a high duration, raise compression, get hondata, and tune, tune, tune. You will see some serious power. and it will cost serious money.
Good luck

For less than the cost of a 200 WHP all motor LS setup you can build a 300 WHP turbo setup.

i have about 1500 to put in to this project and i wanted turbo but i didnt want to deal with some of the problems that can arise bc of bad reliability...that is why i am going n/a... will 1500 get me to 200???

Not without a VTEC head. Even then it's iffy.

Why must there always be the onslaught of OMG BEWST PWNZORZ ALLMOTO.
Most people know this he stated he was looking for all motor gains. I know your all trying to help but its like if I walked into Burger King made an order and you told me you know there is a great steak house down the street.
Slow99 gave some great ideas for gains for 1500 total i'd look into that head I linked you too and cams or you can look into F/I as brought up before a vtec head swap might also be nice some good gains cheap now and will help N/A or F/I setups heck that might be all you want and call it a day even.
Last thing, if you ditch the axle back get a full catback exhaust free up some power for you.

ok so i realize that this is going to be expensive and i heard ls vtec is more effective but how reliable is it....also what is needed to convert the head to vtec...is it only the golden eagle kit and a head ???and about how much is the whole vetc conversiuon done for including labor

you need a vtec head so you have to remove your old LS head. its the reliability part thats going to make a ls/vtec setup expensive.

what about this...i finish my exhaust with headers a hi flow cat and 2.5 piping from the cat back, cam gears, stage 2 camshafts, valvesprings and retainers and the a hondata to make it rev higher and remap the air/fuel ratio...where will that get me in whp???is this a good idea???

1. Before doing an ls/vtec there are many things that need to be done....new water pump, new rods, high compression pistons, conversion kit OR machine head to block, GSR ecu, balance crank, new seals, stronger oil pump(GSR), tuneing.....
I would rather buy a b18c5 and get the same or ver similar results, power wise.
2.Getting new cams will help, and you will feel a differnce....But you will not feel the whole potential of the cams without raising compresion. Higher compression the more torque, the hotter the engine runs, less timing is need to stop detonation.
Pleas remember.... you can have a Lightened crank pulley OR a lightened fly wheel not both

turbo > all motor
BS. That is an opinion. If I had an unlimited amount of money to throw into a 4 banger i would build that shit into a race engine.......without boost. Think about the ratio of 11 sec turbo hondas to 11 sec all-motor ones. That reason alone makes me want to go all-motor. You never see all-motor integras that can take out an SVT or Z06.
But since he doesnt have an unlimited amount of cash, boost is the better way to go faster. But i dont think youre gonna find a turbo/intercooler setup for $1500........

Actually what hes saying is the COST. Making 300whp on a turbo LS will be cheaper than a N/A 200whp LS. Why don't you list the parts that will make 200whp all motor and figure the price. With that money how much can you make with a turbo setup? A LS on stock internals can already handle 275hp. Also, there are some decent turbo setups for maybe not $1500, but just a little more than that.

without the vtec how can you raise compression...is it just high compression pistons and stronger rods or are there other ways to do it?? slow99integra i think im not getting a vtec i just was wondering what was involved in it...but i think im getting a full exhaust (headers back), intake manifold and throttle body, crower stage 2 cams, cam gears, valve springs and retainers and a hondata s200 for tuning....where will this get me in whp??

when building an "all motor" motor compression is the key headwork helps but compression is the key on all motor. to raise the compression you need domed pistons or you need to remove material from the head (milling) this creates a smaller combustion chamber thus raising the compression you cannot make horsepower (naturally aspirated) witthout doing this, you can do all the porting in the world but compression is the real key
