If you think GM's ABS recall was a widespread thing, go ahead and read this one... I just keep feeling better and better about buying another Chevy.
What ever happened to "Quality is Job 1?"

Must be. It's got a 400 and it runs like a dream. Cruise control is how heavy your foot is.

Hey I have a 1977 Ford too!!! I would not have admitted that unless you did first LOL. Very strong truck I might say...
Anyway, I saw a special on the fire hazard of these trucks. They can just be sitting in the garage and all of the sudden........ :smokin: your truck or car is engulfed. They actually tested a part and made it catch fire for the camera. It was kind of ominous. FORD declined to comment for the interview. :disappoin

I saw that show too. Interesting.
At the dealership I saw a fair share of Oldsmobiles get towed in that burnt down in the middle of the night. Mostly Toros and a couple 98's.
Saw quite a few more GMC 1500's get towed in with the front burned off 'em too from the alternator deal, but that didn't happen just while sitting. The owners were driving them.

Actually when you stop and think about it. Blowing up or setting it on fire is one of the better things you can do with a Ford truck or SUV....I wonder how their tires are working out these days???

Yeah, notice how as soon as they had that lawsuit against firestone for the tires causing the explorers to roll over, Ford changes the ENTIRE Explorer, with special focus on improving the suspension... smells awfully fishy to me... like Firestone got blamed for Ford's problem

That was a fiasco. It was more Firestone's issue than Ford, but they shared the blame. The reason it was isolated to the FMC products was because Ford and Mazda bought "special lots" of the Wilderness tires (probably at a reduced rate) that had the separation issue. The GMC dealer that I worked for also sold Mazda trucks and to warraty the Wilderness tires, we had to cut the section of sidewall out that listed the lot numbers. They were only sold to Ford/ Mazda and had a different tread design from what I remember.
Worked out good for me though, as a customer with a brand new GMC could not get himself to drive on the 265 Wilderness tires that it came with. He had them swapped out and gave them to me for the labor. I put a lot of miles on them!

I'd like to burn mine sometimes...the Silverado, not the Ford. Mine's caught fire twice!!!! Once the brakes locked up and burned, and the 2nd time the heater box caught on fire under the dash...now that was fun to deal with!!

No kidding?! That sucks. What caused the heater box to catch fire?

It was some little coil that controls the fan speeds. It got extremely hot and melted the plastic, then there were some leaves and debris in the heater that caught fire. I was actually at the Fire Dept when it happened for a meeting....talk about Ironic. :D

They just paid a Japanese marketer to come up with the slogan. Little did he know the company truely sucked.
