supercharger belt

I was wondering if i were to take off my supercharger belt would that give me better gas mileage? i herd you can put a lower octane gas in if you take it off but will i get better gas mileage too? just wondering.

You can remove the belt and use lower octane fuel however, the mileage may not be any better. You actually only use the supercharger when accelerating and that is when you use more fuel. The supercharger will cause more fuel usage due to the drag on the engine but I really don't think you will gain that much from removing it. You will gain more mileage by keeping your foot out of the accelerator and replacing the air filter and putting in new plugs. If I drive conservatively I can average 29 mpg on my 97 GTP that includes driving over two mountains twice a day. Good Luck!

oh ok, yea i checked my air filter and its still decent but ill get around to the plugs then too, like anyone i want to save as much gas as possible. thx
