Dark Car mode in Police Interceptor

I have a 99 Crown Vic police interceptor that I really enjoy but have not been able to defeat the driver door "dark car mode". I have tried the "unplug the connectors under the passenger dash and remove the negative battery cable" but I doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the article. I had seen it previously, but it did give me another avenue to investigate. I don't recall if the key-ignition and head light chimes are working when the driver door is open. I think the wire may be cut inside the door. That will be the next place to look.

Or they lopped the wire AT the LCM.

I have to check the manual again, but if the LCM is the same from 1996 to 1999, you have to short out a jumper in the LCM, disconnect the battery then reconnect it and the interior lights will work again. Stand by for details. PS.I'm not sure if the information contained in the above link is the same.

But while we are on the subject, does anyone know if the LCM's are the same, since I have a 1996 with delayed headlights, and would like to put it in my 1999. A photo of the location of the LCM would be appreciated.

are you checking for the chimes with the car on or with the key just sitting in the ignition. with the car on you will not hear a chime either once you open the door.

With the car off, key in ignition, head lights on, driver door open, I get no chimes or alerts of any kind. Any tips on driver door removal?
