Hello everyone. A friend of mine has an 02 Civic coupe, 5 speed. The car has a clicking noise coming from underneath the car when turning right, we replaced both axles, but the noise is still there. Anyone had any experience with this?
Thanks
Dave

Is this car lowered? Could be a dust cover on your shock/spring. Is it only at certain speeds?

No, It is totally stock. It certainly SOUNDS like a CV joint to me, but he replaced both axles and it's still there. Thanks for any help you can provide.

My 02 Civic was clicking too when I turned left - I brought it to my friend who is a great mechanic and he heard it too, and found there was some plate rubbing against something else (I have no idea what he was talking about, I'm not very car savvy). He said it wasn't dangerous at all, but unfortunately there was nothing he could do to fix it. It strangely just went away on its own after a few months.

Alright...guys....this comes straight from HONDA service dept....I have a 2004 civic with the same problem. I thought is was a CV joint also, but it's not. It only clicks once right and then once you are going it's okay? Well, if this is the case, then it is NOTHING to worry about. The brake pads shift when you change from going forward to backward or vice versa. There is some play in the bracket that holds the pads...the click is the shift from forward to back allowing the pads to adjust.
Try this. If this sounds like your car, test it by going slow in drive or first and then braking to a slow stop and then going in reverse. Then vice versa, if it clicks only once, that's the pads. I just wanted to let everyone know because i was freakin out about it too.
The service guy also said that the civic is the quietest honda to do this....the Odyssey being the loudest....go figure...."the best car" makes noise...

does it keep clicking if you turn in circles? by the way if i take my car to the dealer and the say the noise is normal then ask them to ride you in anouther car making the same. besides they will be ton of the same car at the dealer. Pads do shift go forwards and tap the brake they chift and then go back but turning is not the pads.

well, it's hard to compare noises without hearing, but I have a noise issue. Mine is 01 HX with 5 speed. I hear somewhat of poping or knocking when I turn my steering wheel all the way to the right. Well it started to happen since the car was almost new and of course it doin't make the sound when I took it back to the dealer. But after a few times, they finally heard it. So they checked all steering components, suspension joints, and etc, and concluded that there really was nothing wrong with the car. Sound is still there, and they acknowledged it. They just noted that if it gets worse, then they will fix it even if it runs out of warranty because I noticed the sound earlier.
After 55,000 miles later, the noise is still there, and it is not getting worse. So I guess there really are some noises which are just noises.
Well, I say just let it be there and address it if it gets worse.

I purchased an 03 Civic EX 5 speed in January 06, and I have the same issue when turning right I get a clicking sound. I took it to my local Honda service department, and the mechanic was not able to "hear" the clicking. He must be hard of hearing or maybe had selective hearing. Anyways I wanted to know if anyone else has an update on what is causing this clicking sound?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I have the same clicking on my 02 civic ex. It clicks when I turn right or left, at about any speed. I had the brakes replace because they were due anyways, but it's still there. Had it at the dealership for some transmission work and they heard it too. Told me it was the struts. Don't have the money to drop on new struts right now, but when I save enough up hopefully that will fix it. I'll post if it does.

I have a 2002 Honda Civic DX Coupe with a 5 speed and I had that same clicking noise. I repeatedly took it to the dealership and they said they didn't know. Which it was a old man telling me this and he couldn't hear worth crap. Then I asked if I could drive it with a younger guy and the younger guy heard what I heard. But they still couldn't figure it out. It wasn't till the lady behind the desk that discovered that it was my second gear that was making the noise. I guess it was in a book of known problems she had. After they replaced the gear the sound was gone and I never heard it again. Good thing my warranty was still in affect and they payed for it all. So I don't know how much it costed. I hope this brings you luck.
