Weird radiator leak

Hi, on the way to work last night I heard a loud hissing sound and then what sounded like water coming out of a hose at a high flow but out of a small opening. I looked over at the passenger side and there was coolant shooting into the floorboard! It was coming from the floor vent and it didn't stop until I got to work(about a 10 minute drive) and turned off the vehicle. As I drove further to work steam started coming from the defroster vents. What the **** is going on? I've never heard of this happening, I mean obviously it's a hose or something leaking. Does anybody know what the deal is here. any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for the info. Now not to sound TOO stupid, but how do I fix that?
It sounds expensive. :(

Sorry, I guess it might help if I tell you what year/model vehicle I have. It's a '92 rodeo w/172,000 miles on it.

It is a hard repair. I had my heater core go bad on my old 91 MR2. It was expensive and way out of my ability to fix. For that car a lot of things had to come out to get to the heater core. As far as how much, I don't know, but it isn't cheap.

You could try some radiator stop leak like Alumaseal or Bars Leaks. Just make sure you turn on the heater to circulate it through the core. Replacing the heater core is usally a pretty big and complicated job. If the stop leak works, which it has for me in the past, it will only cost a few bucks.

Thanks for the info, I'm going to try the bar leak first and see if that works. Thanks again!
