this past weekend I noticed my cigarette lighter wouldn't work. Next thing I know, the interior light wont turn on when the door is open.. I open the hood and the light in there is not on also. Everything else works though.. well.. i havent tried my defroster.. but my headlights, instrument panel, you name it, it works. even the light in the back that turns on when the hatch is open. Could it be a blown fuse? I dont have the tool that checks the fuses so i cant do it myself but COULD it be a blown fuse? other possibilities.. thanks. :screwy:

I didn't know you needed a tool to check the fuses. I always used my fingers.. When I got my car, the cig lighter didn't work either. Went to Walmart to buy a new one, and viola. As for the light, could be the triger switch on your door that would normally activate the light to turn on. Does it not come on when the passenger door is open too? But.. then again, it could just be the fuse.

Sounds like a blown fuse, my s10 did that all to often, so I just put a circuit breaker in it and replaced the cigarette lighter.
Just pull the fuses out by hand and look at them to see if they are blown, look in the owners manual to see what fuses to pull first so you arent just pulling at random.

I agree, blown fuse, look under your your dash next to your gas pedal and look for the fuse panel, check in your manual if you have one to see which fuse it is.....

When you look at you fuse, compare new and old.
youll see a small silver wire thats broken in the middle on the used, looks almost burnt and on the new its a solid silver wire

If its a recurring problem, just go to the autoparts store and get a circuit breaker to put in there....

Check all your grounds to those items related to the fuse.

you might wanna replace the cig lighter. Mine started shorting and blowing fuses in my old car and thats what it turned out to be. Get a shop manual for your car and its all spelled out for you as far as what fuse does what.
