I haven't the slightest clue. I seen it done a few times. But never payed much attention to what tools they use. Should be alot of information online about it. give google a peek.

Put glass coverage on your insurance for about 2 months.... then throw a rock at it.... call up a glass company that your insurance will accept... get new windshield....a month later drop the glass coverage.

As far as I know, no one will sell you just a windshield. Shops purchase auto glass from suppliers that will only sell if you have a registered auto glass shop. I had mine replaced by a good friend that does auto glass, paid wholesale price of $80can for the windshield. The mark up percentage on these things is ridiculous, retail value is around $240can for an aftermarket one. This is not including labour.
