AEM cai or ICEMAN cai ....

Which would be better for me setup? I have an AEM (2-1/4" i think) straight through...cai, and a ICEMAN 3" to 2-1/4" cai(currently in). With a 2-1/2" exhaust with no cat, no res., 4500(thats where my power band starts)rpm+ cams(DOHC ZC). Also have a pm7 and a chipped pr4 ECU(currently in), MSD with external coil, stock fuel rail and regulator. Which intake would be better to use the 3" iceman or the 2-1/4" aem? Im not liking the 3 down to 2-1/4" cuz i feel like the flow isnt that good cuz i have to squeeze 3" of air into a 2-1/4" space. Would it be better to just run 2-1/4" cai all the way through the intake? Also cuz i never mesured it but what is the ID(inside diameter) of the ZC throttle body? Any suggestions would be nice, and thanx for your help!

IMO, use the 2.5" cai... and get a resonator for your exhaust...

Why do you have no cat? No backpressure on a N/A honda isn't a good thing.

ok well right at this minute i do have one on but i already have a straight pipe made to be put in. But why do you say that no back pressure is a bad thing, i know its not much of a good thing, too much will kill hp but too little? This is a topic that many people have different thoughts on.

When you open up your torqueless, high reving n/a honda exhaust, it seems like you have to floor it or whatever to get going. This is just my own observation.

I have a high flow cat. Before I had my resonator welded in, my exhaust was fairly open and even though I had to do some tuning it felt like I was wasting a lot of gas. Now my car is tuned pretty decent for what it is and I barely give it gas which I really like these days...

Mine feels fine i have pull all the way through the peddle, if i push it alittle i have nice pull, i push it more i get alot more pull, it just has a shitty sounding rasp to it but im gonna try and see if i tie a strap like shippers use for strapping things tightly together with steel staps. But this thread is for intake info, is it better to have 2.5 straight in the throttle body or to go from 3" down to 2.5?

ok i put on the straight pipe and holly rasps thats raspally. Desised to gut out the cat and let that act like a resonator. I just wish i had a better muffler that didnt sound like crap. Wondering if i strap it up with shipping band straps if it would tighten the internals of the muffler and not let it vibrate as much will have too see.

amen to that.

i HAD a cat with no resonator. now i have a resonator with no cat. a world of difference. i don't have to turn the stereo up so loud to actually be able to hear music. i don't have to yell into the cell phone to make a call (don't worry. i don't drive bad while on the phone). and so on.

the exhaust sounds good now. it's nice and throaty, but while idling, it's quiet enough to sneak up behind someone with.

ok almost a month later and i took that straight pipe out cuz it was too short and it was puttin too much strain on my down pipe flange and i had to make a new gasket for it. i gutted out the cat and put that back on, i like alot, the rasp is lower and shorter. I also went back to my pm7 ecu and am not runnin so rich now. feels smooth and quiet for the most part. so now im wondering if the header i bought for my si motor is the same bore size as if it was for the zc. well i will find out in time, like when im replacing the header. thanx for the input though!

I've got 2.5 straight to a truck (305) muffler. It is quieter than your average fart can when I'm just cruising around. I put a cat on for my e-test and I definately felt the restiction in the high end. I will admit it screams above 5000 though...
