Modify an 97 LS

Good day everyone.

I have a 97 Anniversay Addition. It's an RS with GSR interior. I did not know that the B18 is a motor that can be tweaked. Silly me. I've had my head in V8s too long.

I've added an intake and a front upper strut bar (Stock GSR Type- Cheap). I have an appointment with the custom exhaust guy. He does great work. The exhaust won't be a name brand but hey I'll get over it. In the future, hopely next year some headers will be installed. That's the plan right now. It's a high KM car but has a great working motor. I've never raced or anything like that and I given it yearly tune ups and monthly oil changes. Ok I'm writing to much....

I've been looking around the net and haven't found good dyno information on LS motors. Is there anything out there that will have dynos for LS motors natural aspirated with intake and exhaust.

Keeping you informed.

Best Regards,
Spotovi

I/H/E is always the first step for performance bolt-ons. Not sure about power, but you should be able to net anywhere from 8-20 hp from this setup. Just remember......dont get headers if you have any plans to go turbo!!

No Turbo for me. Thanks for the info.

The dynos I've found are always a little strange. In one case the LS motor is modified with an intake, this gave something in the order of 3hps at the wheels. The next run has them swapping out the head for the LS/VTEC and adding a CAT-Back. This is no good for my comparisons.

The second dyno run I found had an LS with headers and CAT-Back but it was a little worn and blowing black smoke out of the disabled motor. They are going to fix it and post a second run. However I believe they'll change the CAMs since that's the thing to do. Again no good for comparisons.

One more thing to ask- I have a 97. I have only 1 O2 senser on the down pipe, nothing on the CAT. Does this mean the system is OBDI rather that OBDII. I thought that after 95 or 96 all cars are equiped with OBDII.
