*LOL*! I will... I promise... But tomorrow ;) I have to get my scanner setup first :) But I know a little ;)... Well ok, a little more than a little :D

But just a quick note... If you've never seen or heard of a Ferrari 308 before... You might know it as the car that was in Magnum P.I. It was also in Cannonball Run driven my Dean Martin & Sammy Davis Jr. :) My 2 favorite actors :)

Later, I'll post tomorrow ;)

Nice car. Performance specs are close to a 328, as I recall, but I prefer the 308's styling.

I think that picture is actually of a 288 GTO. Can anyone back me up on that?

Now that I see it again and actually take a look, it is not a 308. Alas, I am going to bed so I'm not going to look for pictures of a real one. Night.

I guy I know has a 308 GTB and It's sweet. It also leaks oil, does anybody know if that's normal? That first pic also WAS a 288 GT0 it has a boxier shape, huge sideview mirrors and Special Rims. It's my second favourite car and November on my calendar.

These are the most seen Ferraris for me!

Some guy down here in TN has a big ass wing on the back of it, it actually looks pretty cool, I saw it at the gas station and right in front of our car was a yellow S4, very cool!

Does that wing look anything like this....

u can call me an idiot but i think someone is just jealous. jk. oh by the way im not trying to dis ferrari, i love them, my all time favorite is the F-40 i was just trying to put in some respect for the fiero. so thats about it.

enzo@af
02-25-2001, 10:36 PM
Yeah, a guy I talked to has a Ferrari 308 kit car based on a Fiero chassis. He swapped in a Cadillac V-8 (not sure what) and he's claiming about 350 hp. And, I've seen 355 replicas with more power than the original. But, I'm not sure how they compare in performance reasons.

As for me....I'll take the Ferrari:D

The first picture posted was of a 288GTO.

The second picture posted was a 308GTS, I think.

The third picture posted was a 328GTS, I think.

If someone will please verify, the targa tops as shown are designated with a GTS name while GTB would identify a coupe.

that i would too ( take the ferrari) but on the other hand there is about what at least a 30-40 thousand dollar difference between the two. I know u can get a basically brand new fiero gt off ebay for bout 10,000 but i really dont know how much the 308 costs. but im also pretty sure it is the cheapest ferrari out there right? so for the money im saying u could buy a nice truck to tow ur brand new fiero gt or just the ferrari :) hey but when it comes to styles and babes the fiero does sound like a mini ferrari. but i too would like to have a real one i just dont have the money :). 308's can be had for as little as $25-45k, depending on condition. Please, don't refer to them as "cheap", however..."least expensive", if you will :)

Ferrari 400's, 412's, and Mondials can go for as low as $20k, but don't offer quite the image or performance you'd expect from a Ferrari.

If you're willing to pay $10k for a Fiero you've apparently got bad enough taste, however, that you may want to toss out another 5 grand for a Delorean. That gives you the exclusivity and image, without the high price.

beezer
02-26-2001, 04:36 PM
once again u are also right too. but when i say put out 10,000 for a fiero i mean like an 88 gt leather fully loaded with like 40 miles on it and stuff. i mean i bought mine for 1500 and i mean its worth every penny that i spent.
but like u said a delorean would be nice but i heard they are that realiable, like a fiero is :) but i mean to get a delorean with more than 40 miles im sure u would have to fork out a little more that 15,000. but thats just my opinion, sorry bout calling it cheap every ferrari expensive or not deserves respect fpr the are the kings of the road! :) beezer

I'm not sure of the miles, but I've seen Deloreans advertised for between $15k and $25k...almost NEVER more than that...but usually for about $17k. Simply because they are such collectors and fairly unreliable they dont' tend to become daily drivers for most people. I'd say it offers a nice alternative, however, for those seeking something interesting.

A couple more rare exotics that can be had for relatively small prices are the Birklin and De Tomaso Panteras.

Of course, you also have a wide range of Porsche's, old Lotus Esprit's, and early model Acura NSX's.

IMO, if you want the cheapest mid-engine car with decent reliability, low insurance cost, and great mod-potential then the Porsche 914 is the only option.

enzo@af
02-27-2001, 12:03 AM
Mister2 isn't bad either, and it'll kill the Porsche in looks (IMO) and still won't break the bank.

Magnum PI had Tom Seleck, and yes the 308 was used. That was mentioned already in this thread......

03-01-2001, 11:26 PM
Yes. The Magnum PI Ferrari. It's a 308 GTS (not GTB). It's 3 litre V8. Has a couple of variants to the model. Some have 2 valves per cylinder and carburated. The more popular ones are the 4 valves per cylinder variant and fuel injected using Bosch Motronic (I think it was the first generation Motronich). These are called the 308 GTS Quattrovalvoe (QV for short) The engine pumps out around 240 bhp with a top speed of about 250kph. Want to know more? Go to http://home.att.net/~ferrari/

Actually, the 308 in magnum was a 2.8L V6. In a Fiero platform. The car was not actually a Ferrari, but the first Fiero based replicar. It was call the Mera Fiero, and was a limited run of about 5000 I think. Hey beez, check out www.cybercars.com/fierohq.html/ for the "Euro Bumper" for your Fiero. It's an F355 airdam kit(just the airdam), and I think it matches the Fiero better than the original nose.

Hmm. I read the page, and I know that the Mera edition Fieros were used in the show. That page says that real 308's were used for the show, and that there is rumour that kit cars were used for stunts. I know they used Mera Fieros in the show, so it must just be for the car chases. 308's were pretty expensive when they were new.

first one is a 288 GTO (limited edition special based on the 308 but HEAVILY modified)

second is indeed a 308 GTS US version

but the third one is a GTS Turbo (Italy only version). This car is based an the 1986 328 GTS but has a 2.0 Turbo V8 (yes 2L V8!) pumping out 255 hp instead of the 328's 3.2 V8 270 hp with no turbo. Performance is almost identical though. You can tell them apart by the various inlets that help the turbo breathe.

According to this site:

http://imdb.com/title/tt0080240/

the TV show "Magnum P.I." ran from 1980 to 1988.

According to these sites:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiero
http://www.goldengatefieros.org/Fiero%20History.htm

the Pontiac Fiero began production in 1984.

That Mera replicar must be a really early Fiero-based replicar to predate the Fiero itself by three years! Care to revise your statement?

993cc
04-13-2005, 09:44 AM
It's neither of those. It's simply called a GTS Turbo. Notice the openings infront of the rear wheels - only way to tell apart from a 328 car. Has 2-litre V8 Turbo. Smallest ever V8! Read previous posts on this thread where I explain how it came about. Never officially exported outside Italy and very rare.

In Magnum PI they used a combination of real Ferrari's and kit Ferrari's. They had about three or four real Ferrari's that they used for various scenes. The ones that were in the best condition were used for the glamor shots/close up scenes, and the ones that were not in as good condition were used for driving scenes that required the cars to get dirty or well used. The kit Ferrari's were used solely for stunt scenes only, and if I remember right, there were one or two kit Ferrari's. As for the show itself, I would have to say it is one of the best TV shows ever in my opinion! Life doesn't get much better than Magnums, he lives on an awesome estate in Hawaii, meets beautiful women, works his own hours, and has almost unlimited use of the ever amazing Ferrari 308 GTS!:grinyes:
