First off, Before getting a bunch of "that's stupid and pointless" replies, it's for a customer. I KNOW it's stupid and pointless to have a monster tach, but it puts food on my table. With that in mind....
I need freakin help!! I installed a customer's monster tach and thought I found the wire on the coil under the distributor, but that wasn't it. It's doing the same thing installing a tach on a ford does... you rev high, and the monster tach doesn't go any higher than 2ish. I called dodge for some help, and they didn't even know. Said they'd lost their books. So I've got no clue what wire to hit... Can I get a helping hand from ANYBODY that might know or has a Chilton's style manual laying around. I made the poor customer come back because there was just no way to find out!! I HATE installing these things sometimes...

well first off, our cars don't have distributors, thats called a Power Transistor Unit under the Coil Packs, FYI.
Anyways, to answer your question, did you splice into the wire in the PTU that is labeled "TACHO"?

if the picture doesnt show up, go here

but, IMO, it would be easier just to tap into the ECU RPM wire. This page has the diagrams of the ECU pin numbers, and the RPM pin number is shown (dependent on ECU) towards the bottom of the page.

Why is it stupid????
what kind of tack is it? I have one but I dont know if essentially the wireing is the same.
Edit: its the solid white wire btw. it plugs into the engine, you can see the harness right below the valve cover, passenger side towards the front.
and dont make fun of people just cause you dont like the stuff they install. I for example got one cause the helmet I have is very restrictive and I have to tilt my head down to look at the dash and often lost sight of the course whenever I autocrossed. now I dont have to take my eyes off the course.

I don't care what people get or why. The only reason I said that is when I asked the question once all I got were a crapload of replies saying how stupid having a monster tach was and nothing helpful. I was getting it out of the way.
