the reason im posting this in the camaro forum is b/c the wreck i was involved in last night involved a camaro. I was ridin with this 17 yr old kid i met the night before ( who has .....or had a beautiful 35th Ann. SS), and..........well he lost it.
He was trying to show off and the rear end came out from him on this narrow road at about 65. He just hit this turn way too fast and then DOWNSHIFTED INTO 2ND. As we were spinning i was like holy shit.....
He hit a tree on the side of the road(we were both wearing seatbelts), came to a stop, and i took off. He was under the influence so i opened the door and ran. I talked to him later tonight and he said that he drove his car away from the scene. Apparently he slid the rear passenger side of the SS into a tree. Luckily it involved no other cars.
i posted this is b/c the experience scared the living hell out of me. Im lucky to be alive, and am stressed at the moment...be safe guys

Ok, well first off it is a damn shame that a car like that was hurt because some inexperienced kid was drunk and being a dumbass. Secondly, don't be stupid people, if you've been drinking and want to hurt yourself fine go ahead. Slam a door on your hand or dive into a pool filled with double edged razor blades but damn it don't drive. Drinking and driving is the biggest waste of beautiful cars and lives...

First off.. not a very smart choice to be riding with some one under the influence, let alone to even be letting them drive.
Second.. did the accident sort of look like this?
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/27932900123.jpg
Same exact thing happened to me when I first got my car. Took a left turn (from a stop) too sharply on a wet road, and bam. If I would have steered as if I were drifting then it wouldn't have happened. But I just kept turning left so it kept sliding. First time ever driving a RWD car, and I learnt the hard way between the differences of it and FWD cars.

Doesnt matter if he met the kid a second before he got into his car or a year ago, he knew he was drunk or had been drinking and let him behind the wheel is what matters.

I think that statement can only apply to like me and you as most of these guys are right there at his age now. As for driving drunk, I agree its dumb and think we all should know better but unfortunetly if I must do so, I will admit to have gotten behind the wheel after having one too many and am very lucky nothing has ever come of it but like Philly says, I now know better or at least I like to think I do.

Okay then.. i'll tell you.. Im 16.. I went to a party where everybody had their own bottle of hard liqour of their choosing and well I didnt drink cause I knew that if I let my friend drink we'd all probably crash especially since it was an hour drive back to my house and the car is a 78 Firebird whose seatbelts dont work, suspension is almost shot, gauges are messing up and headlights are going on and off, so I was thinking HELL NAH.. dont feel like dying and I know we're not invincible so if you feel like calling bullshit on this.. go ahead. :p

I will admit, I have driven home after having one too many drinks. But, I've only done that when the persons house I'm at is only about a mile away from me. If it's a good distance away, then there's no way I'd ever let myself drive. Good thing is, is that I havent dranken in over 6 months. Last time I did, I was dared to chug vodka. And since there were lots of ladies around, I stepped up to the plate. Chugged nearly half of it.. and washed that down with a few beers. Later that night.. I was nearly passed out on the couch, and started getting that gagging reflex and knew I was about to puke. So on the way running to the kitchen sink, I puked all over this guys crutch. It was horrible. Haven't dranked since then.

Unfortunetly, the majority of the drinking public has been there. I have puked up Vodka/Rum/Whisky/Gin/Tequila flavored vomit more times than I would like to count on more people than I can laugh about even now. I think we call those life lessons. Like the time I puked at my bosses house on his new couch at his 50th B-day party and then passed out and had to be driven back to my hotel room by his 2 sons. That made for a interesting Monday morning, let me tell you.

1.) He never said he was drinking...
2.) Before I was 21 I never went anywhere afterI had been drinking, once I started I was there to stay.
3.) I will not say however that I have never done anything stupid because that is bullshit, everybody does it and it usually teaches a valuable lesson.

man, thats such an expensive kick ass car to wreck like that, i worked very hard for everything i own and couldnt afford to be stupid like that, when i used to party i would give their parents my keys to make sure that i couldnt go anywhere and when we would have parties at my house with anywhere from 30-80 kids at a time my mom would take their keys too and they were cool with it...it wouldnt be so bad if i was drunk and killed myself but if i had to go to a lady and tell her im sorry i was drunk and i killed your child when i was showing off in my car would be horrible...i dont think i could do that....my ex girlfriends dad was sober and with a car load of guys who were drunk...he was in the front seat and they all got out to pee and a guy called shotgun so he got in the back and they hit a bulldozer doing 100+ and when they got out they grabbed the guy in the front seat to pull him out and he was cut in half...bad stuff.....but im not trying to give him a lecture....im sure he learned his lesson

Okay.. we're hypocrites because we've already learned our lesson the hard way, and are passing our knowledge onto someone else?? So tell me, when you accidently hit your thumb with a hammer... do you not tell others to be careful, that hammer can really hurt you? Or say you your working on a light fixture and you accidently exectrocute yourself. Do you not tell others when doing the same thing to make sure the power is turned off before hand? I think your looking at this situation the wrong way buddy.

Well nastynater, sorry if I came off as an ass. If you would have just explained it before hand like you did just now, then I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have gotten so many offensive remarks. Just from the impression you made in your first post, you made it sound like a typical kid screwing up a nice car his parents probably bought for him, and you playing part in the whole situation. But now I understand better where your coming from based on what you just said. So again, sorry. But by the way, have you gotten to see how bad the damage was? I know the huge dent I got in mine was from a tiny little tree, I almost wanna call it a shrub. I can't imagine how bad the damage must be with a regular sized tree.

its fine man....no offense taken. This kid really let me down. I mean im not even 21 and i was doing him a big favor by putting my ass on the line just for alcohol. I was just telling the kid how he shouldnt speed to hard through these corners...he then overcorrected, gave to much throttle, and we started spinning. This car was so badass. It was red w/ white stripes and was a low mileage one owner SS(it was his dads). I still havent talked to him after the last time we talked which was right after the accident. Judging by the way his car was riding i think he totalled it. I was actually surprised at how clean the damage was for a 65 mph wreck. I think that the frame got a little bent and there is defintely some serious cosmetic damage in the rear.
I have already vowed to myself that next time i will just make the kid pay me some gas and i drive my dam self.

Glad you learned you can't trust everyone and that you're ok Nate. Hell I gave up drinking because no-one else would stay sober enough to drive.
The last time I drove drunk, I was 18, stopped to take a piss, fell over while holding my johnson and pissed up my shirt for like 25 seconds and couldn't do a damn thing about it becuase I was laying on my arms / hands. classic. yuck.
By the way... Now I'm 33, and thinking about taking up drinking just to give myself a vice. Quit smoking almost 5 years ago... that is HARD - I miss it dearly, my Maro's broke so I can't drive it, my wife is 7 mos pregnant so sex ain't happening, too tied up at work to go out, and have no money to do anything anyway. HOWEVER, I did get like 80 bottles of alcohol from my grandfather who died recently. Lotta scotch!!! So I'm thinking I might have to develop a drinking problem. Problem with that is the only time I have to do that is after 9:00 each night after the kids go to bed, and by that time I'm too damned tired to get into it. (See what you guys have to look forward to???)

aight i've read through this thread and i've seen posts on how drinking and driving messes your car up and puts you and other people in a hellova lota danger. But if you get pulled over your screwed for a loooooong time. Where i live in va if your convicted of dui, with a .08, or .02 if your under 21, BAC then your extremly lucky if all you get is your license taken away. Your probably facing at least a $5000 fine, 60 days in jail, and a 10 year criminal record. Got arrested, got it reduced to reckless, and still had to pay out the ass and i still am. You can get hurt and hurt your car, but for all of you out there that think you drive better with a few beers in ya, try thinking about what's going to happen when you get caught. I never hurt anyone, or my car, but just because you don't crash doesn't mean that you can't get into some serious trouble.

If my dad had a car like that that i wrecked while i was underage drunk i would never see daylight agian. If the police would of caught him he would be really screwed especially since he was driving a sports car. If you do that around here you wont be able to drive for like 5years let alone all the fines and jail time.

if you blow a .15 or higher it's manditory that every car you have in your name be intalled with a breathalizer device that costs a couple hundred to intall per car. You have to breath in it to start your car, and every 15 minutes while your driving. If you fail the test, or don't breath at the right intervals the lights will flash and then the car will shut down. every month you have to get the log checked on every car to see if you failed any tests, which costs at least another 50 bucks a month. When you get it removed it costs another couple hundred dollars too.

RS92 :nono: ... Just for that lowly comment I'm gonna try to invent a time machine so I can go back 10 months before you were born and throw your parents off a day of two... turn you into one of them Hoochie Thangs you was selling cases of a couple months back.
Philly - *shhh* don't tell anyone, but I catch a smoke and a drink every once in a while. (But it was like 5 nights in a row a couple weeks ago... woohoo!!!) Only thing is, my wife catches me... like every time. I wish I could invent a cigarette that didn't stink, wasn't a carcinogen, and didn't clog up your lungs.... then I'd be like ----> :smokin:  :boink: :ylsuper: 24-7-365... NO! 25-8-366. Actually more like 30-10-400. I LOVE SMOKING!!!
Alright, now I need a break. Actually salivating.

(See what you guys have to look forward to???)
wow....this post is extremely depressing yet fucking hilarious at the same time. Next time you piss on yourself call me so i can get it on video.
There is nothing wrong w/ drinking alcohol as we all know. You just have to moderate.

ok now i work at a cancer hospital so i wont start pointing my finger and telling u how sad it is to see guys our age in there with throat cancer...i had to put a bag on a 28 year old last week because he had a lump in his throat that closed it, so he had to start radiation treatment. it was sad as hell. i wouldnt want a bag to carry around my poop in all day and a feeding tube put in me at any age, let alone a young age.

The aftermath wasn't too pleasant but I have to be honest... had I not completely pissed the 10 or so beers I drank into my shirt, I would have pissed my pants laughing. I think it took me about 10 minutes just to get up, no one would help me for obvious reasons, everyone was laughing and falling all over the place. Had to try to wash off in a muddy swell off the side of the road we were on... complete mess. Luckily that was in the days when Delaware county was mostly rural, not much traffic, cops, or houses. Would have been a much different scenario today.
So yeah.. my lesson to you young guys... Don't get so drunk that you fall over and piss like 4 quarts of beer up your shirt. It doesn't impress the ladies.... or the police for that matter.

This stuff is the reason I don't drink much if ever and probably never will. I can't say that i've never had a beer. But thats about all I have if anything or maybe a sip of something just to taste it. Im 18 and ive never been anywhere near drunk. I don't like the risk of doing something ill regret. I may be a square for that but thats ok with me. Besides its much more fun watching other people get drunk off their butts. And to the guy who started this thread( too lazy to look for your name in all of these posts) its good that your ok. I almost feel bad for the other guy(almost) because I wouldnt be able to look my dad in the eye for a longggg time after doing something like that.
