Hi,

I just like to ask that what it is for? Is it worth to buy it or 2500 wet sandpaper is enough.

Thanks

The polishing stix use the micromesh material and go to 12000 grit so they are useful to get a really shiny finish on the paint in areas that are hard to reach with polishing cloths. So I would say they are worth it.

I'd say micromesh is definately worthwhile. But i think it's more cost effective to buy it as a micromesh kit instead of SMS polishing sticks. You can always cut the sheets and glue them to any shape piece of plastic you like to make your own polishing stick.
The kits can be found at a lot of online hobby supply shops.

Probably a good way to get paint shiney, I'd be curious to know if they're easier to use than straight Micro Mesh. I strongly dislike that they don't sell the grits individually- 3600 and 4000 get used much faster than the finer grits. Without being able to replace them individually, I'm not interested- I'll have a bunch of 6000, 8000, and 12000 that I couldn't really use. Serious deal breaker.

That and the name- I couldn't use a product in good concience that spells 'sticks' as 'stix'. But that's probably just me....

The stix are for polishing in tight places. It's good for polishing into scoops and details like that. Not big enough for general polishing, use regular Micromesh sheets or pads for bodies. It's much better than standard paper sandpaper.

Do a Google search for Micro Mesh. They sell all kinds of products, and they sell separate sheets in many sizes. I find them locally at a woodworking shop called Rockler, and the sheets are about 50% larger than the ones in the hobby sets, and they're $2.50 each. I restocked my 1500-3600 grit sheets recently. You can make much better "Stix" yourself anyway-the Stix have inherent problems-if you trim them to get into tighter spots, the adhesive is exposed and it gets gummy. The sticks themselves aren't even flat when they cut them into strips. Kind of cheesy. I think one could make much better micro mesh sticks by using thin styrene instead of the thin foam stuff used by SMS.
