I was driving down the highway and my car died I have checked fuses and breakers now have the fuel pump out but don't know how to check it-does anyone know how or what the problem is if it's not my fuel pump.

I am no mechanic, but had this happen to me, once, on a different make auto.

The problem was: The timing belt broke.

That happened to us a few months ago. It turned out to be a clogged fuel filter. Cost us under $100 to have a tune up and it's been good ever since. Hope that helps. Good luck.

to test the fuel pump take it out of the tank but leave the electrical wires hooked up have some one turn the key on and the pump needs to build to a certain psi in the fuel lines if he turns the key and nothing happens then one of two things either you are not getting any power to the fuel pump or the fuel pump is bad. i had that happen to my ranger one day and i had just filled it up ... to get to the pump i had to drop the tank. *that was fun* and after replacing the pump still the same thing. turned out it was my relays *luckly i had a buddy that worked for the military and they had my type of truck all over the place so he got me a few relays from storage.
