Stock BOV question

Okay so I'm still stuck with the plastic BOV or should I say POS. I'm told that the stock bov can not hold more than about 14 pounds of boost. So my question is if more than 14 pounds of boost are ran, will the boost spike then drop to 14ish or will it just not go past 14? Thanks for any help.

ummm the stocker leaks a lot lower than 14, prob like 9-10psi

No it leaks at 14, and if you run too much, it just wont go past 14 psi.

It leaks almost imediately, its a plastic valve and seat after all. The question is when is the leak big enough to actually affect performance? ;) Try actually leak testing a 2g BOV and see what happens, and decide for yourself. That being said, it makes sense to upgrade it. For most setups a 40 dollar 1g BOV really is the best option ona budget. I dont think its worth the money for a fancy BOV until you are running over 25 psi boost.
FYI, the EVO BOV is very similar to the 2g BOV. Same scenario, the plastic valve leaks even with the much stiffer spring. But its not enough to affect performance even when I pull the vac line off the WG actuator (25 psi). But for good measure, I install it backwards so it can't open and no-lift-shift. During a leak test, it was completely airtight when installed backwards. The regular way, it would start to leak around 5 psi. But it was a very small leak. A turbo flowing 30-40 lbs/min will easily make up the difference ;)
Moral of the story: Feel free to test these things out on your own, it's not rocket science. :)
