removing 2.3L DOHC Quad 4

Can the motor alone, not the transmission, be removed from the top. Some people have told me it has to come out from the bottom others say the top. Its a 5 speed transmission so i dont see the problem with removing it from the top. Anyone know if it can come out from top. Its in a 92 GA GT.

I hate to break your heart, but its gotta come out the bottom. To get it out the top you have to take the transmission out as there is not enough clearance to get the input shaft out of the transmission, and the transmission comes out of the bottom. Plus, its physically easier to remove and install the motor out the bottom, just raise and lower the car around it, much easier to line up the motor and transmission out of the car too.
