So the spider is installed and it sounds like the truck is running cleaner, but I have a couple other nice problems now.

First and foremost I have to fix the coolant leak that I now have. I started her up this morning and coolant pissed everywhere. I'm going to go pick up a pressure tester so I can pressurize the system and try and find this leak...

I also have a problem idling the vehicle; it just kind of lopes and dies if I don't stay on the accelerator (but not like before I installed the new spider). A friend came down with a pretty nice scanner and said that it's likely because my engine is misfiring; he said I'm only running on 4 or 5 cylinders. I'll check timing, though I'm certain I installed the distributor properly. And no, I didn't leave any paper towel in my intake ports when reinstalling the lower manifold :P

You folks have any suggestions?

Intake gaskets leaking coolant?

did you remove plugs or wires? got them in the right order?

did you clean EGR? is cat could be clogged?

Wires are most definitely in the right order.. labeled them all

It looks like the coolant is leaking from the drivers side coolant port past the lower manifold gasket.

EGR was cleaned along with all other sensors attached to the upper plenum (aside from the TPS, which I'm told you're not supposed to clean)

The egr is not connected to the upper plenum.

You need t remove and clean the actual valve.

Yeah I know it's attached to the manifold.. I just meant I cleaned the EGR *as well as* everything attached to the upper plenum, aside from the TPS.

I'm going to check my wires first after I redo the lower gasket. I replaced the wires/cap/rotor about 500km ago but the wires are crappy, so I'm not convinced they're contacting properly. I may also look at a high performance cap along with the wires. Any recommendations on caps?

have you cleaned the IAC, MAF and the throttle body?

I know this may be dumb, but I have done this myself, and have seen it done several times. Did you make sure the spark plug wires 1 and 3 are on correctly? One and three don't go in order, but rather spark plug wire 3 is the first one from the front of the cap, and spark plug wire 1 is the middle one, this is of course only if you have horizontial (side) distributor cap. I thought I would mention this

Kinda funny, I had a 1994 Chevy Astro van before my blazer. I did a full tune up on it one afternoon, including new wires. When i was finished and ready to start it up, it ran like shit. Misfireing and running on 5 cylinders. I checked my wiring 3 times. It was just like the owners manual showed.
Five hours later, and frusterated like hell, I went on the internet to find out what went wrong. It turns out( here's the funny part) THE FREAKING OWNERS MANUAL WAS MISPRINTED, THE FIRING ORDER WAS OFF. EVERYTHING HAD TO MOVE OVER CLOCKWISE BY ONE. I could'nt belive it when I started the engine after that and it purred like a kittin. Mine was a 94, yours is a 95, may be worth a try???
:evillol:
Good Luck...

Yeah I cleaned the IAC and MAF. When I picked up the truck I did a tuneup and overoiled my K&N a bit, so that's the first thing I did when this fiasco started.

Any recommendations on caps? I read the other thread on plugs and I'm going to replace the platinum plugs I bought with some rapid fires, do a compression check and replace my wires. Thinking I might as well do the cap too. The rotor was just replaced.

I just replaced my cap and rotor with a Niehoff. About $20 cheaper for the set. I could get the whole kit cheaper than what the dealer wanted for just the cap.

I compared the two side by side and they are the same.

Nice to know, I will keep that in mind on the next change, Thank's BlazerLT..
