Well On a drizzily and damp Saturday night... I was driving in a tunnel and then once I cam out of the tunnel theere was a sharp right turn and hte light was greeen and I decide to keep my speed... I didnt realize that the roads were slippery and I slammed my brakes on the turn(bad idea) and the ABS locked up the brakes and my car skidded into a sidewalk and hte right side of my car has been pretty musch desimated.. The rims and tires were destroyed along with the suspension and the side skirts and right side of hte fron bumper... The right side airbag deployed too.. Its going to cost 8 grand to fix my car and my father has been yeling at me for the past three and grounded me for the rest of the year and my dad has been calling me "his slave" now since hes making me do aall the hosue work and doinf everything for him. Life sucks...

one last thing... what the hell were you thinking slamming the brakes on mid-turn?

Let's see some pictures of the damage. Don't you have insurance though?

Hmmm, young, inexperianced driver, driving a powerful car now suffering lots of damage after hitting a simple curb.
Im sure your not the first to do it.
The question is will you do anything to stop it happening again?

The insurance will cover it completly abut it will go up big time. I understand what happend to me is going to cahnge my life and now I think I am going to drive alot more careful now.. the good news is that my dad will let me drive his car to school but it will take a month to fix the car since the body shop its in has other cars to fix and they have to order new rims, tires, and suspenions for hte ride side aand respray the side skirt and front bumper and aa new panel for the rigth side where the airbag is... but I'm starting to learn a few things in life.. forgive me... I know it will take a while but I'll learn... I know I shouldnt be driving a nice car like what I have...

Now you'll learn. Young driver + powerful car + shitty conditions = trouble.

tosk is quite correct, ABS is supposed to to the exact oposite and prevent you from locking the wheels.

jcz1987...sorry to hear about this, and don't kill yourself over it thinking "i shoulda done this..done that" etc...
F*CK everyone saying it's cause your young and inexperianced.. WE ALL do things from time to time that can, and sometimes DO get us in trouble.. Once you get your car back, cherish it..that is a nice ride man, and the body shop will do a great job.
Remember this, a friend i used to have (worked at a body shop) said if the car is in nice condition, we put THAT much more work into it..to make it look great...whereas if they get some econobox, they just slap the sh*t on..
One pointer i can give you, ABS is VERY unpredictable...so ALWAYS assume your brakes can lock up...

Well I understand that everyone thinks Im a dumbass for ruining my car but yes I am still young but experienced with accidents before.. First of all I was not drifting or playing with the E-brake at all. It was jsut coming out of a right turn a little fast I should say and ABS light went on but the car kept skiddimg so I tried my best to keep the car in control thats all... sheesh stop being all hard on me. sounds like you paniced when driving, a bad thing to do, but something even the more experienced of us are not immune to (Though the last time I did something like that I was also heavily fatigued and only driving because it was extremely neccesary).
Take some kind of advanced drivers course or have some track time and learn from your mistakes.

Meh, it can happen with young driver + slowish car as well.
I did almost the same thing with my 130hp Accord a few weeks ago, where I was taking a roundabout in dry conditions at 3 am, basically what I did was slowed down to about 50 km/h, shifted the car down to second and went into the corner, though I realised that I was still going a little quickly and the car was understeering so half-not knowing what to do I slowed down hard enough for the ABS to engage, the car got extremely twitchy and I was fighting with the car, but the brakes never locked (Seriously, ABS locking? WTF is up with that?), but I at least managed to get around the corner with the lesson that Accords can't corner as quickly as Civics and I need to get my suspension sorted out.
Though if I had offed I wouldn't have been lucky enough to just get a nasty kerbing, I'd also have taken out a lamp-pole, just like my mate did in his Skyline going at about 130 back last year.
It happens, it's stupid to pass judgement on people just because thier car isn't a Lada or an Automatic Silvia Q's (:thefinger ) or something. Fact is we all do stupid things in our cars when we are young, it's whether we learn or not that's important.

^ Well thanks for understanding.... I don't know but I think that some people on here are just being arrogant, cocky, most of all JEALOUS in my opinion and All I wanted to tell was what happened because I dont want this to happend to anyone else out there. If people jsut want to make fun of them or rant all over them because they get into a car accident, it gets them back in the future. I'll get pics tommorow since Im going to the body shop to see how the car is doing...

I had several close calls, skids and the odd spin when I was your age and learning how to drive.
It all made me a better driver, and none of it caused any more damage than a slightly miss0aligned fence post.
The differnce is I was doing it in a 998cc Datsun with 58hp.
It simply wasnt fast enough, or powerful enough to get me in that much trouble, it had nice skinny tyres and firm suspension and I could slide it all over the road while doing only 30-40kph, if I lost it went no further than the side of the road, no chance of it skipping kerbs or taking out a tree or power pole.
I learned how to drive that little car to the limits, I used to pray it would rain so I could practice driving it sideways, even though it was FWD.
Then when my skills had surpassed the limits of the car and I could make it do anything I wanted it to, things beyond what it was ever designed to, I moved onto something bigger, heavier and with a hell of a lot more power.
If you want to really learn how to drive, and really know what car controll is then sell that big heavy 330i and get something small and underpowered.
An old 1300cc Corolla, or VTEC-E Civic, or a Geo Metro, or Suzuki Swift.
Then take some advanced drving classes, join a car club and attend a track day and ask someone to come with you in the car and show you how to drive.
Find an empty paddock and go nuts, use the hand brake, brake mid corner, swing the car around, pull the hand brake and keep acclerating in a FWD car, brake late in a RWD car then stand on the power.
If your really keen buy an under power CRX or MX5 and enter it in some autocross competitions, you won't win, but you will learn a lot about car cotroll.
At the very least down grade to a 316, if you keep driving the 330 you will never truely learn how to drive, and you will have more accidents.

if it were any other 16ish year old driving that car and saying he did what you did I would be very upset. However from the respect you've earned here I can honestly say shit happens, I used to be horrible when it came to cars. However I got in trouble and learned my lesson, as I'm sure most of us have here. So if anyone here tries to give you shit then they are obviosly too young and inexperienced to have been through any learning experiences.
All I can say is learn from it and be very grateful that your dad is helping you out with insurance and paying for your car. You should be happy to do your dad's work regardless of the accident, I mean he did buy you a 330 right? If one of my parents bought me that car I would gladly mow their lawn for the rest of my life... Just be glad for the things that come to you and don't sweat it, its already getting fixed and you are not injured. what more could you ask for?

Wow... maybe you're right. People can say what they want, but I believe that everybody should start out with a POS until they know how to drive. I don't mean driving and talking on a cellphone or smoking cigarettes driving, I mean how to stay out of an accident driving. My father has been a driving instructor for many years and I probably am the worst example of it all, but I'll always be grateful that I drove Chevettes when I was a teenager because I smacked a curb with one on a rainy night, but it only cost me $700 to fix when I was 17 and didn't make much money. But I learned the value of a dollar and also how to drive without fucking up my car or myself. My $.02

i agree, shit happens, especially to 16-17 year old drivers, i've been there myself. but that's why new(er) drivers shouldn't be driving $30,000 bimmers. now you've got a 2 year old car with a relatively serious accident on it's title. hopefully when/if you decide to sell that car, the person doesn't run a carfax. i think everyone should start out with a beater, it's like paying your dues as a driver. then again, what 17 year old would turn down a new 330?
i hope everything works out for ya.

Why are you complaining about your dad being anal about You wrecking car that he paid for?
Inexperienced drivers should not have ABS, or traction controll or any shit like that, it will help out in the long run. My civic does not have crap and I just learned/learning how to use throtle, breaks and E-break to get my ass out of trouble. Insurance and repairs are cheaper too.

I'm not sure if I follow the logic behind that. ABS and traction control systems are SAFETY items. Inexperienced drivers should all have them to aid them in getting a feel for the vehicle.

Alright, lets rephrase: inexperienced drivers must learn how to drive a car without help of modern electronics. Then they can proceed to driving more technologicaly advanced cars.
And also statistically when ABS started to appear the amount of accidents grew a nice bit. It is mostly due people thinking they are safe and electonics will save them. It won't all the time, might get lucky in some situations but having controll over a car, I think, is far superior over having electronics controlling the situatians. Of course for some people it is different, but it is just an opinion.
By the way by I am not saying that you are an asshole, just think you should respect your caring father more than you are right now.
Sorry to hear about your accident, sooner or later you would have one anyways, its just how life works out.
