96 Blazer Poor Performance

Hello,
I have a 1996 Chevy Blazer 2dr 2WD V6 4.3 Vortec which I haven't had for more then a month and I have changed the oil done some front end work, major brake work just about replaced every part in the brake system because of rust. I've notice the gas milage is very shitty, but the engine runs great. I also noticed the trans is leaking. I believe it is coming from the rear seal. The leak isn't major about 1\4 a quart every week. I checked the color of the trans fluid and it's kinda pink very clean, but I must fix the leak I'd like to keep the trans running good like it's doing now. So can you guys give me some tips on the gas milage and what I should do about the leak? I've seen alot of talk about cleaning the egr valve to improve performance, but believe it or not I have no idea what it looks like or where it is at. :banghead: :loser:

Thanks,
Rick

Thanks for the reply BlazerLT, but I'm far from a mechanic and I have no idea what a throttle body is so it's gonna be kinda hard for me to clean something I know nothing about. If you could explain it to me that would be great!

I guess if I ever get the time I'll buy some guides for my truck...

Thanks, Rick :uhoh:

Before the throttle body, think of the other things I have mentioned.

I'll follow all of your advice tomorrow when I give the truck a complete tuneup, but I'd like to do everything tomorrow that's why I asked for your help...

Thanks for the advice, Rick
