Wel, is that a edcuational guess? Seems like a dumb answer to a logical question to me. Why do you THINK it is fake?

If youve ever seen a Burning tyre on a turning wheel then it looks pretty similar to that. If thats a fake then its a BLOODY good one.

I can't find anywhere in kbslacker's pic that makes me think it's fake. I'll buy it. I'd like to know how they ignited the wheel, though.

Remember, it is a motorcycle so it is very easy to get the burnoutand they could have put a flammable liquid on the track for photo puposes. I've seen a pic like that before in a Motorcycling Mag.

Looks real to me... the flames do look a little 2 dimensional but they put the heat in above the flames... I find it hard to believe that somebody would put flames that don't look right but add the heat in the air.... $0.02

Well, I can't say what LK was looking at in particular, but I'll point out what comes to mind when I look...
1. No smoke. I guess that's supposed to be gasoline burning, and gas burns with thick black smoke.
2. No reflection/glare on glass or hood. The should be some reflection of the fireball somewhere.
3. The fire casts no light. A fireball that big would illuminate the driver's face quite well.
There may be more...:flash:

The flame looks kinda un-natural. But it is the smoke or heat haze that does it. It is exactly the same as one of the effects that you can do in photoshop, I recognized it immediately.
I have seen cars blow flames like that but I'm sure this is fake.

Yeah, sort of. It's a distortion of where the ambient light should land. But flames are incandescent at the same time. Are you referring to the Camaro pic?

SS2K; You just pointed out the facts that make that picture real, their is a shadow of the fireball, there is illumination on the car and you can see the driver and the rollcage quite well. It looks real enough to me. BTW, if gas makes black smoke when it burns (Which I know it does) howcome car tailpipes don't spew out black smoke?

You're right. I hadn't spotted the shaddow I marked below. So I can't disprove it. LK was the one who said it was fake, so I picked up the torch and put out what I (thought I) saw. hehe, its called a exhaust. You ever run a motor without headers? I think it would just spew exhaust smoke (being black) out from the motor. Thats why there is a catalytic converter, muffler, etc. (I think) :)

Come on you guys are smarter than that.
Smoke is particularit matter suspended in the air, namlyu Carbon from incomplete combustion. In a car engine, especialy a new one Cumbustion of the fuel is almost total so the only thing coming out the end are water vapour and carbon gases, CO and CO2.
If your running rich, and the engine is unable to fully burn all the fuel it will show up as black exhaust smoke.
Flames coming out of an intake are burning in a lean fuel environment which promotes full compustion of the fuel and so no smoke!
Anyway where the hell are more Burn Out Pics!!!!!!!!

I'm with LizardKing here... the camaro pic is fake!
why? you say..
1. the picture has this blue colortone on it, all except the fire... doesn't match, the fire should be more brown then, or darker at least.
2. being a fire burning, it's a source of light... and it can't cast a shadow. it should illuminate all its surroundings...
pleace correct me if I'm wrong. just thinking out loud here... :)
here's my contribution... not fake, have the mpeg of it...

I guess you are talking about the slight redness on the windsheild surround. I'm not sure what it is but I don't think its proof that the flame is real.
The flame looks overlayed and the scaling of the..ummm fluffyness of the flame seems wrong - like this is a picture of a large fireball scaled down to fit the picture. It might even be a CG fireball (I think it is)
And like I said before, the smoke above looks very fake and exactly like photoshop smudging.

I can't even tell whether it is or isn't. CG's are getting way too realistic these days. The Viper is cool, that's one way to go through a new set of tires. BTW, that pic of the Porsche is also good, the drag chute looks like an externally-mounted Turbocharger.

I agree that the picture is fake, and my reason is that the car is slightly out of focus slightly blurry, and the fireball it totaly crisp. The light looks un-natural, and there is no light in the car, and the fire would have illuminated that
