VATS location

I've got a problem with my VATS on a 96 Monte 3.1. My security light stays on, but i can still drive it, which indicates a faulty instrument panel, a grounded wire, or a faulty VATS. My Mitchell program says it's under the dash on the passenger side. The only thing I've found is behind the kick panel on the pass. side, but there's no markings. I wanna be sure before i R&R it.....

Well when I installed my remote started I followed the wires(thin orange wires with a white wire sheath) that ran to the control box that I assumed was the VATS control box! This was behind the driverside kickpanel! Should be to the right of the steering column!

If the VATS wasn;t working the car will not start. So I would check else where. But I'm not sure what else would trigger the security light though!
