Been a while... been having some problems with the hatch

Sorry i havent been around much ladies and gentlemen. I started school a couple weeks ago. got my degree in automotive tech last year and i'll have another in autobody in a few months. im in a dorm and i dont have a computer there so i run to the comp lab sometimes when i have some free time and check up on the board.
Anyways I was on my way to class like the 3rd day there and when i got halfway there, my car died. Its not an uncommon thing since my idle is a little rough and low. I was coasting down a hill so i put it in gear and tried to pop start it ....nothing. tried again, nothing. pull over pop the hood, shit my pants. timing belt broke. what happened was my water pump seized. I havent really had time to check it out cuz im real busy lately but i got the head off. Somehow, it looks like the pistons didnt come in contact with any of the valves. no marks on any of the pistons, or valves. gonna take out the valves sometime this week and check them out. if everything is fine, im gonna put the new pump and belt on and keep driving it. no matter what though, im looking for a new car. hopefully another ED hatch, but no promises. theres a 95 DSM in our shop right now. body is mint, motor is out of the car and apart, but good. its a TSi (turbo all wheel drive) he only wants $500 for everything, so im pondering that. Alright, ill stop blabbering and make a cliffs note for you peeps.
Cliff Note: broke timing belt on zc, checking valves this week. at school now with no computer so wont be on here every day. looking to buy a new car in upstate NY area

Somehow, none of my valves were bent. woohoo! should be up and running once again by mid next week. Just in time to go to the track haha. i gotta stop beating the shit out of my car someday. Also, I found a 92 eagle talon tsi for $500. Only thing is that the motor is out of the car and disassembled. i'd just have to reassemble it and drop it back in and i'd have a turbo all wheel drive car. we'll see though... still in much debate about it.
