im doing a course in art for gcse exams here in the uk, im re-takin them. an my art teacher said since im all into cars an that maybe i should go out an get bits of engines an cars etc.. for still-life drawings. so i was wondering how hard would it be to disassemble a turbo charger, in fact im looking for a big-ass diesel engine turbo off a truck (not like a pick-up, a big truck) so i waned to know how hard is it to "pull it apart" ? an what tools would i need ?

they are pretty easy to take apart if you know how to use a wrech and screwdriver. i think a still life of a compressor would be great.

do you already have a turbo? What parts do you want disasembled? Do you want the bearing housing off? Sometimes taking a turbine exhaust housing is hard for me because after the bolts are indexed and tightened down, they can be in hard to get places and are rusted in from use. If your only looking to taking a compressor housing off, then it should only be a few minutes, but for a turbine housing, it might take longer. I disasemble and rebuild turbos, if you have any questions when breaking it down make sure to ask, good luck!
