2000 Contour dashboard coming unglued

Got a 2000 Contour and the dashboard is coming unglued on the top in the area of the long narrow plastic vent. It started popping up the vent and now I can't even get the vent piece to fit in there because the dash is so loose around the area it fits in. What kind of glue would be good to re-seal the dash with? I tried to use some double back foam tape but it wasn't strong enough to hold it down. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks for any suggestions! Mike H., Seattle.

It is a re-call on these cars for this year. They made a terriable dash so when the heat gets to it, it just starts pealing up. They do make a plastic cover that goes over it and solves the problem but in my opinion I think it looks like crap so I just put a book on my dashboard to keep it down. I was looking for something to keep the dashboard down other than the book but haven't found anything.

The recall has been over for years. There is a repair kit you can buy, but its basically a long piece of plastic that rivots down over the dash and some people don't like the way it looks. If you're going to try and glue it, use something strong like a decent appoxy.
