my bathroom door lock has a small key that goes to it that's like a small screwdriver. try a jewelry screwdriver (not phillips) and stick it in the hole and turn it just like a key.

If it's just the little hole in the knob, push the hanger in and turn the knob at the same time.

If it's the small hole kind, use the hard end of a shoelace. Just stick it in as deep as possible, and if that doesn't get it, try at a different angle.

I was thinking the same exact thing, haha. Especially "Just stick it in as deep as possible, and if that doesn't get it, try at a different angle."

either a screw driver, philips or flat head, or an allen wrench.

W/e, I was already thinkin' it while reading. Um, I'm with the kicking. Just keep kicking it till it busts open and you are then able to enter and exit easily.

Yeah, if it's going deep with no results, try hitting the sides of the hole. It's more effective that way! If neither works, give up and find a new door knob.

See that little hole in knob? OK, what you want to do is find a wire coat hanger, or something like that. Unbend it so its straight, and set it down on something. Be sure that whatever you set it down on is long enough to hold the whole hanger so that no one will be hurt by it. Now, take a few steps back from the door, and aim 2 to 4 inches above the little hole with your foot. Kick firmly. Repeat if necessary.
Be sure not to skip the coat hanger step. It is crucial.

We had a problem years ago with the lock on the bathroom door being stuck in the locked position. Since we couldn't find the key to open it, I discovered that the metal "thingamajig" that goes into the holes on your belt that holds up your pants fit into the keyhole nicely... and opened the door. Another McGuyver trick to the rescue!

Do you have a son? If so, leave him alone in the house for a few hours and leave a few dirty movies near the T.V. When you get home that door should be unlocked, although if you time it right your son will probably still be in there.

Here's a thought... You haven't described the door at all, but if the hinges are on the side facing you, pull the pins and remove the door that way. If I ever get locked out of my apartment, I can do that to get in.

just slip a card between the door and the frame. Always works for me.

No kidding... fortunately, the door that enters the building has a lock, and doesn't open outwards, and since I'm the only one that lives in my apartment building, I don't worry about it too much.
