Fuel Issues

Can anyone give me some tips on changing out the fuel pump and the fuel pressure regulator on my 99 Grand Prix 3.8 NA? I ordered the fuel pump and regulator already. I removed the hatch door in the trunk area and have accessed the top of the fuel tank and the fuel pump. How do I remove the ring that is holding in the original pump? It looks like one of those locking rings with the a notch in it with two holes in the ends. After I get the ring off then do I just lift it out and put in the new unit? I didn't buy a Walbro I just bought an aftermarket complete pump module.
The fuel pressure regulator looks even harder than swapping out the fuel pump. I can't figure out how that thing is being held onto the fuel rail. I am not to sure how to get the end off with the o-ring on it, it looks like it is a steel line attached to the bottom of it. It is pretty solid and I don't see any nuts or bolts holding it on there.
Any help is appreciated, thanks. :o)

Also be sure to remove the battery negative cable first for safety.

Dude, you have come to the right place for advice. The FPR is very easy to remove. At the top you will see a c-clip just like the one on the fuel pump assembly but smaller, of course. Use snap ring pliers and remove the c-clip. Then wiggle and at the same time pull up on the FPR. It comes off the bracket assembly that attaches it to the rail.
BTW - Make sure battery is disconnected and engine is cold for safety.
A little fuel will come dribbling out when you remove the FPR.
