'94 Grand Am GT - Several Problems

1994 Pontiac Grand Am GT Coupe
125,800 miles

#1 The speedometer in the dash cluster sometimes gets "frozen". It'll stick at 0 MPH for a while then suddenly when your driving it'll pop up again. Its been investigated at garages a couple times and they haven't figured it out.

#2 The driver's side front tire hums and vibrates when driving straight and turning right. It'll go away and sound fine when you turn the wheel left. The tires themselves look fine. They are all up-to-par on the PSI. They aren't that old either.

#3 Both power windows do not work. These have also been checked out by garages a few times. The garage ordered a window actuator for the driver's side, but that didn't work.

I'm seeing a pattern here..Maybe some bad wiring?

Any advice is appreciated.

welcome Zexel . 1 the dash clusters probley shorting out. you can pick one up used pretty cheap at a salvage yard from what i hear.

2 its your wheel bearings a hummin. probley best to change them both. when you turn left it takes the stress off the bearing and it quits hummin. it can lock up the wheel if it gets to for gone, and ruin the spindle thats what holds the rim/wheel on the car.

3 has the window switches been checked? they are good about going bad from stuff getting spilt on them or rain. the window things can be trickie running down. you just need to start at one end and follow the wires around lookin for a short or somthing.

1. By dash cluster, do you mean the entire cluster is shorting out or just the speedometer itself?

2. I had a hunch that it was the wheel bearings. Is that pretty involved to change them out yourself?

3. Yeah, the window switches have been checked. Its gotta be something with the door actuators. The garage just ordered the wrong one as far as I know. Its been hard tracking them down. I've ordered the wrong actuator a couple times so far.

1 it could be a loose connection on the dash cluster(speedometer) but the speedo is probley just wore out and needing replaced.

2 its not to involved, try here for the DIY at the Zone. it might say 1995 on the top left of yuor screen, but this covers 85-98.

3 i hate ordering the wrong parts too, but it happens. I hav had trouble with my windows, but it was the switch(s) were dirty. Bought some electronics cleaner from Radio Shack. Pulled the switch out, disconnected it, and took it apart(which i wouldnt recomend) and sprayed the crap out of it. Let it dry and it worked some how. Hope this helps you out.
