how do the ricers do it?

how is it possible to get 1000 HP out of a 2.2 liter engine on pump gas? i know they use turbos but still this seams nuts. with a 5.7 liter 350 its almost damn near impossible to make that kinda power. is it because they rev faster or what? i know the fuel injection can help keep the fuel to air mixture optimum but alot of small blocks have fuel injection and no where near the HP to cubic inch ratio that the ricers have. what gives?

i've never heard of a 2.2 liter car with turbo, nitrous, and everything under the sun getting 1000HP on pump gas....you got a link or something that we could look at an example of one of these?

it was an S2000 honda i seen it on the cover of a ricer magazine not too long ago at the super market. it said 1000hp 2.2 liter on pump gas.... that sabout all the info i have on it, but was just curious how the heck they can do that.

now way....not on PUMP GAS....i search every search engine I know and i didn't see anything about a 1000hp S2000.....if you can find the link we can look at the mods and figure it out that way...

http://www.dragracingonline.com/technical/trannytech/vi_3.html is one place i found where it talks about one. but even if we say 800 HP its still crazy to make that much power oout of a 2.2 liter. why can't our v8 chevys turn out that kinda power to size ratio?

actually chevy v8s can....i would be willing to be that there are 10x as many 1000hp LS1s as there are hondas....and that guy from your link was a professional drag racer making 1000hp, the professionals that drag v8s make 4000hp....

the ONLY way to reach 1000hp with a 2.2 is with serious boost from a turbo in the range of over 30lbs. this also would require a huge and probably externally cooled charge air cooler such as a liqid CO2 shot. it would also require about a 500 to 600 shot from a wet nitrous system. this in combination with ported and polished intake and heads, 4 valves per cylender, properly chosen vtec dual overhead cam, three angle valve job, gapless piston rings, fuel contoller, nitrous controller, milti-spark ignition controller, underdrive pulleys, custom headers, cold air intake, and a sticker in your window from every part you put on your car and some that you didn't.....
thats how you get 1000hp out of a 2.2
the difference between 1000hp out of a 2.2 and a chevy 350 is that every other time you pull 1000hp out of a 2.2 you need to rebuild the engine. it takes half a dozen runs with a freash 350 JUST TO BREAK IT IN!!!
thats how they do it >>> $$$$$.$$

i'll say it once....and it always will stand....there is no replacement for displacement...even if you say turbo/superchargers are.....yes they are but if you compare two engines with the same thresh hold for boost, the bigger the engine, the more horsey power it will make...

you should do some research. if you knew what the hell you were posting about you wouldve known that if you all of those mods to a 2.2L .....then all the same mods to a 5.7L....The V8 owns. the bigger engine will ALWAYS make more power.

so you ave never seen V8 chevy small blocks with about 1,500 HP running 7 seconds in the 1/4?
you can get way more power out of a chevy V8 than you can out of a 2.2L any day.

yeah if you take a chevy v-8 and do the equivalent mods to it that they did to that 2.2, it would have a shit-ton more power lol. and it sounds a lot better too lmao

Check hot rod mag for pump gas drags drag week or power tour you'll see lots of them. www.1320video.com has lots of vids of some. Its done daily with small block chevys.
I really want a turbo civic with one of those big ole fart can exhaust systems. NOT!

wtf? i know youre not trying to start shit but.......depending on which year civic and what body style.....turbo hatch would own u. If you come to tallahassee i can hook you up with a scary ride w/ a kid a know. 490 hp @ the wheels(race gas), DD'in w/ 17-18 psi on a turbo H22A, in a car that weighs all of 1900lbs. The hatch runs 10's w/ drag radials. Still want a Sonoma w/ a blower?
PS. He drives the hatch every day. BARELY runs w/ 93.
