desperate for help! Please!!

I am changing the driveaxles on my 93 Sol, and I cannot get the new ones in. I have removed the drivers side axle, and the new one will not go in all the way. I have tried everything I can think of to get the retaining ring to click into place, but no luck. I have even tried to put the old axle back on, to see if the new one has some sort of spline misalignment, but the old one does the exact same thing. The only thing I can think of is that somehow I'm not applying enough pressure, but everything I've read says to be extremely careful not to put too much lateral pressue on the CV joints, so I'm at a loss as to how I should proceed. PLEASE help me out here folks, this car is my daily driver and its been in my garage for 3 days. I need to get it back on the road ASAP. PLease let me know what I should do.

Is it the same kind of axle as the old one but just a new one? If it is it should fit right on. I have never replaced axles before, but I heard if its made for that car it should fit right on.

BTW I also live in TX.

Well, I finally ended up going to my local Honda dealer and begging for advice. The mechanic told me to just load the transaxle side in first, then go ahead and press the splines into the wheel hub, and use the hub as a hammer to drive the tranny side of it in. It worked like a champ, and now I'm finished with the job!
