Hi all help greatly needed.
Put my lovely vr6 through the car wash yesterday - sadly could not disarm the immobiliser to leave the car wash. Pushed it out and tried again several times, locking and unlocking the car with the autowatch - these all work fine. Insert key, turn, press fob, nothing. sometimes i hear the rear lock once the button has been pressed????
It's a 1995 golf vr6 - been a few ongoing electrical probs, driver window not working etc. Don't know if it was a water thing with the car wash, the rear hatch prob as fob works in arming/locking the car. thanks

I take it this is an aftermarket keyless entry system. There are several posts in here on how to eliminate the immobilizer/alarm system since they tend to be problematic.

thanks - turned out wasn't immobiliser but the earth to starter motor frayed etc. - new problem now - cutting out, not just to ignition, but all off, even CD player which runs independently of ignition. Re-started straight away, but then cut out again when i had to stop at traffic lights - any ideas?

Most odd electrical problems like that can be traced to a faulty ignition switch. Try jiggling & slightly turning the key to see if it makes a difference.

Try turning the key in the ignition slightly to see if things change.

cheers m8, sounds very plausible does that - hasn't happened since, but if it does, i'll give it a try :)
