Clutch pedal resistance

When I drove my car this morning I got the distinct feeling that the clutch pedal was behaving oddly. It seemed to have almost no resistance for a little bit, then more and more as the pedal was pushed down. I'm pretty sure it was always smoother and softer before. Its an '95 Camry, 118k miles. Does anyone know what could be causeing this?

your first mode of attack is to check you fluid level... if that is low, add some then come back and tell us if that didnt do it... that is my guess for now...

Sounds to me like a hydraulic leak between the clutch master cylinder and the clutch slave cylinder. Fairly simple / inexpensive repair.

funny thing.. the clutch seemed fine today. Its coming up on 120k so I think i'll just take it in for all the recommended services as soon as I get a break from school. Hopefully it'll keep going until then.

If you have a leak, the clutch will behave fine until the operating temperature is reached. When the air is heated in the lines, it will compress more easily. You could drive it several miles and have it be fine until the air warms up, then shifting problems will arise. Of course, this is all assuming you do have a hydraulic leak ;D
