I have the opportunity to buy a 91 CRX for 200 dollars. It is slightly wrecked in the front, but other than that, the car looks fine. It is at a boys ranch that ppl donate their cars to, and it's just been sitting for a few years. We went to start the car, and it started up, but instantly died. After that, no spark. I'm thinking it's the coil or ignitor like a lot of ppl have problems with. There are a few other civics out there, but not sure if the years are compatible with this car. Here are the years of the other cars. There is an 84, 87, and a 92. Also a few Accords from sometime in the 80's if they would work. I can just get the whole distributor off of one of these cars, or just the coil or ignitor, whatever. Any help is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.

sometimes if your not getting a good connection on your battery post the car will still turn over but it will not start.i had a 94' mazda that did that and my moms civic would do it when it had a lot of corrosion on the terminals. if that doesn't work i would check the ignition fuse. if the fuses are good look at the other hondas out in the field and see if they have the same ignition set up try swapping the coil first and look for loose, or grounded wires. then if you still have no fire try the distributor. it is common for the ignition module in honda distributors to go bad.

alright, i'll give it a go. The battery is a new battery, so it has no corrosion. The fuses all looked good. I also have an 88 civic DX, and I was just outside looking at that, and noticed the distributor is a little different than on the crx. Hopefully I can find one the same on one of the other cars out there. Even if I can't get the car to start, I'll probably go ahead and buy it for 200, at least then I'd have a parts car for my 88. Thanks for the help.

i think the 92 may be compatable. i don't have my shop books handy and i can't remember right off the top of my head. pop the hood on the 87 and the 92 and see if the engines are the same size by checking the liter of the engine which is sometimes stamped on the valve cover or on the sticker on the driverside door or door sill. if you can't find that check for cubic inch displacement this should be located on a sticker on bottom of the hood.if this don't help and nobody else can help you tonight you can contact me and i'll check out the engine sizes in those year models and let you know tommorrow evening

Ok, I probably won't be able to make it back over there til sometime next week though. So if you get bored sometime, you may look into it, if you get time. No hurry though. I'll try if i don't hear from ya. Thanks.

I reccomend you do a thorough check up on that car make sure everything is hooked up right and connected. Also buy one of them cheap duralast battery's their like 60 bucks, just to make sure you have enough juice to fire that sucker up. for your dizzy question im pretty sure all the dizzys between 88-91 civics and crx as well as 84 to 87 work vice versa respectivly, check each dizzy out. It wouldnt take more then 20 bucks to get a O ring and a rotor for the dizzy either. GL
