Hey guys.. bare with me here, i'm not much of a smartass, but i'll try. I've got a 94 camaro about 120k miles on it.. a while back, on my vacation, my relative blew the transmission (lack of liquid). I had it rebuilt just a few months ago, but ever since the rebuilding, my car hasn't been the same. I'm experiencing RIDICULOUSLY high rpms on very low MPH. I'd say from 0-20 it may hit 3,000 rpms. It drops down to about 2,000 and a half after ever shift, untill i hit 50 mph .. as SOON as i hit 50, always 50, the rpms drop back to around 1500 and the car picks up. It has no pickup prior to 50mph .. i might even say it takes SEVERAL seconds to get to 50mph.. BIKES are quicker than my car!.. car sounds very clogged and powerless... I used to LOVE my camo.. someone please? any suggestions ?
P.S. mechanic who rebuilt tranny says the reason why i'm getting high rpms is cuz he installed a BOOSTER in the trans.. which is bull because the car has NOOO pickup what so ever.. embarrasing. thanks for all ur time guys.

everytime i take it back he insists that its PERFECT and was put on the computer several times without any "indications of problems" .. i think he once reset the TPS ? i think its called? .. but all it did was lower my RPM on IDLE.. In idle it would be at around 500 rpms.. but gradually it increases, and now, on idle (tahts if i can get the car to start without it dying) it would be at around 1500 rpms. =( I'm so depressed.. don't know what to do.. and since i get HIGH rpms, i refill the tank every other day.. All you hear is gas burning and always smells after a day of driving =/ .

tell him you will give him 1 chance to fix it 100% or your gonna call consumer affairs.

Their have been so many visits to him, that time has passed very quickly.. i'd say many months by now.. He is my fathers mechanic for his routing business. It's been more than 4 months for sure..

take it somewhere else that is reputable and get a second opinion IN WRITING of what is wrong and what it will take to fix the problem correctly from the mechanic then persue the issue with the shop that is giving you the run around. It may be to your advantage later, to get this second opinion from a "certified" shop or mechanic. That way if you do have to go the legal route it may have more impact. Definately contact consumer affairs division in your state. Let them know he doesn't want to honor his workmanship or warranty. If the shop refuses to fix they can be placed on a "Buyer Beware" list.
Then inform Mr Mechanic that you will persue this matter thru the Attorney General's office.

wow, thanks a lot for all the info. As of today the car won't start.. it starts up then drops back under 500 rpms and turns off. I'm going to tow it to a dealership or a repair center have them give me the news. I'll update later on, thanks again for the responses.
