Just got a 1993 concorde. The previous owner had at one time taken the car through a car wash and broke the antenna off. First, can I remove the actual antenna from a dead car and replace mine? Or do I have to buy the whole unit? Second, how did you control the antenna going up and down? Was is the radio being turned on and off? Thank you very much for your input!

You can replace the telescopic metal portion of the anttenna. It does involve removing the whole unit & dissassembling the mechanism on the power unit. It has plastic rivits in it that you will have to drill out and then replace them with small screws when re-assembling the unit. Once you get it apart it will be apparent how to proceed with the change.
The unit is triggered by the radio, radio on = antenna up, radio off = antenna down.
Is the motor not working ? If not, replace the whole unit with a new one. It's been my experiance that replacing with a used working unit from another car usually will not work for long.
Cheers
