Hey everyone. I've got a 2000 Grand Prix SE Sport. The system is the tape deck, 6 speaker variety. Im looking to upgrade the stock speakers to something alittle beefier. Lemme know, thanx

Check crutchfield. They have adapters that you wire up to your aftermarket speakers that hook right in to the plugs your car has. It's a whole lot easier than trying to rewire the entire sound system. Although, I still have the stock ac-delco speakers in my car, along with my ac-delco radio, I just added an amp and 2 10" subwoofers, and it sounds pretty good. Maybe one day I'll get around to changing my factory speakers, but for now, they work just fine.

Well, my speakers work okay....but I want something that rivals a Monsoon system that is in the Grand Am GTs....oh man that is a sweet sound system. I tried with a 15" Lanzar sub....1000 watt in a sealed box. powered by a 8 watt amp...the amp fried and almost burn the car to the ground.lol And I checked the wiring...it wasn't the fault of my wiring job...the amp just sucked. I'm just curious if I can say...hook up 200 watt RMS 6'9s and stuff.

You should be able to, as long as there's enough clearance for them. If you order them from crutchfield, they send you the adapters you need to plug the speakers directly into the factory plugs for free. I think you can just buy the adapters, too. You wire the speaker to the adapter, then plug the adapter in, and bam, instant speaker.

As for my system, I've got two Jensen 10's and a 1000 watt Jensen amp, and it sounds pretty damn good. I've had it for about a year now, and never had a problem with it.

what size speakers would a 98 GTP 2-door have? looks like about 5 1/4" in the front (door panels), with two separate speakers on each side in the rear - one looks to be a 6x9, but I don't know about the other - haven't taken the grills off to look

I'm thinking of replacing the rear speakers... I got great sound in the fronts, but the rears are a bit lacking, just wanted to see what size to shop around for before dismantling...

The fronts are indeed 5-1/4, and the backs are 6x9, I know, and I think the smaller one is a 4. Log on to crutchfield.com and you put in what car you have, and they tell you what fits.
