ok, when i first got my car it smoked a little. Well me being a first time driver and having my own car, I decided to pretty much get on it and push it to the limit every time i got in the car. I was stupid. Well it still smokes except more now from me beating the hell out of it. I since have had the car taken away from me and I learned a few things, it's not worth it to go fast all the time. It's dangerous and cost a shitload of gas!!! Anyway, I think it's the rings in the car. How much would it cost to get new rings and have them installed??? let me know! thx

I'm guessing its the rings too. It's not gonna be cheap unless you do it yourself or have a friend do it. If you don't know anyone that is mechanically competant try to meet someone from a racing club/speed shop that would do it as a side project.

heres for your car:smoker2: :smoka: :bandit:

The rings themselves are pretty cheap - ~$20 per piston...but if you are gonna take all that shit apart, you might as well do the bearings and related shit too. - My $0.02.

Dunno about labor...i am doing all mine myself (with help from a competent ASE certified step-father ;))

Running a compression check will help determine how bad the motor is. One trick on older motors is to run thicker (heavier) oil in them so they don't smoke so much. like 20w50 or something. Makes for some slow starts in the winter tho...that shit is like honey.

the thicker oil isnt good for our small engines tho, the engine has a tougher time turning through the thick oil, that trick was only good for big V8's from back in a day.

it sounds like rings to me also, but run a compression test to be sure, it could be your valves not sitting right.

Buy it a couple of patches and then get it to try cutting down to a pack a day :p

Not much more to add to what's been posted here so I thought I'd be flippant :D

if it is your rings...be careful who you take your car to. i thought i would have my head gasket replaced at a shop...i didn't want to mess it up. 2 more head gaskets later (in 3-4 mos) i had to yank my engine.

i have no idea what the hell they did to my car, but it wasn't good. sometime this summer we'll take it apart and see what's really going on.
