When checked my 4.3 Liter Z motor 1994 reads -40degrees intake air temperature. this causes a rich mixture all the time. I cannot locate this sensor and the new one does not look like anything in or on the engine it is a push in sensor not a threaded one. My manual says it is thread in on the intake manifold in one of the runners. Could it be the one next to thermostat? The chevy dealer insits it is a push in sensor but my engine is throtle body not multi port. It looks like the push in type would go in the intake air host to the air box.

It should be mounted in the air cleaner assembly somewhere and it should have two wires running to it.
Are you sure you were sold the correct sensor??

If it has one you should see it with the lid taken off. It's about .75" wide. I'm going off the one in my 89 Caprice which should be similar. Mine is located in teh bottom half of the air cleaner. It's located close to the opening for the TBI to stick up through.
How are you getting the reading for the IAT? Are you getting any codes set?
