88 4.0 timing

need to retime this 4.0..whats the best way...never timed a engine with a dist. that wont turn like this 4.0....

there is no timing adjustment on the 88, computer takes care of that.

so i guess i just put the engine back together and it should start and run.
the crank was turned with the dist. out and thats why i was thinking it needed to be timed again..

you will have to get number one piston at top on compression stroke before putting dist in, very important, need help let me know.

should the rotor be pointing towards one?

number one should be at top but on compression stroke only, as you turn the engine over with a wrench hold your thumb over number one spark plug hole, as it rises to the top you should feel air pressure on your thumb, if not, keep turning it until you do.
