hello all-
i am doing a silvia in metallic red and was wondering if i put the clear coat on before or after i do the window surrounds? i have never used clear coat before. i am thinking that i put the clear on the car and then do the surrounds so that the black does not show up as glossy. thanks for any help.

Do it like that.Clear coat on metalic is nothing more then final coat of paint, so it should be treated like that.

one other question. do you put on the clear before or after decals? i want to put on a carbon fiber hood, but i don't want to ruin the decal.

When it comes to decals I never clear over them as I'm too scared they'll melt. If you're doing a race car it's more authentic having decals after clear as that's the way it is in 1:1. However, when it comes to carbon fiber I would give it a coat of tamiya smoke then clear coat, this is one decal you want clear.
