timing 180* off at distributor will cause backfire out of the intake.

Yeah, sounds like the timing is off.

ok so i fifured out what the problem was.it had something to do with were the head ,the intake and the block meet,it seems that the head was shaved off about 1/8 so the intake was stiking out a bit there fore gaping the block and the intake not letting the head and the block close really tight therefore getting water all over the pistons and into the exhaust .im just glad it didnt get into the oil. so what i did was i grind the bottom of the intake .after i put evrything back for the second time the car was better .no more codes .timing is set .Now the only problem is that there seems to be a tapping sound coming from the head maybe the cams .the car runs great .any idea what that noice is?

Mine backfired out the intake when the plug wires on the cap were messed up.
I don't think you can put the distributer on 180 degrees off, they're keyed so they can only go on one way. If you were to put in on backwards you'd really have to force it on.

If it was shaved that much that sound is probably the valves hitting the pistons.

ur right i guess something aroung the cam area just needs to be adjusted,i was told it was the rocker arm that needed to be adjusted.
