will the ignition coil plastic housing of any other 2.4 fit my sunfire. I went to the junk yard and found one for $35.00 but it looks exactly like the one on my car, but i'm not sure. My car was misfiring and i took a look at the ignition coils and the plastic vanilla housing was cracked and that's how i found out that my car was misfiring and shaking really bad.

If it is off a 2.4 it will fit your engine.

Question for you: Was the misfire on just one cylinder or more?
Question for everyone: I had a misfire code thrown at me and I have replaced the boots and plugs as an initial effort since it needed that anyways. I also have ignition coil amplifiers put in. Part of that installation required a drilling of a 1/4 inch hole in the plastic. I noticed around one of the boot contacts (not the one that was reported misfiring) when I installed the amplifiers was chipped and charred (this was 2 years ago). I have recently got this code, but could that hole have eventually caused this?
