1999 jimmy won't shift to 4 wheel low

4 wheel hi & auto works fine

I have same problem. It works only when I don't need it. For instance it will shift if I am on flat pavement, but otherwise I am SOL. If this is the same for you, I would suggest shifting to 4L prior to going anywhere you might need it.

Are all you tires the same size and all replaced the ssame time?

Are you in neutral or park when you attempt the change?

the tires are good all the same size
it won't shift to low at any time but it does try you sometimes hear a bang when it tries to engage

I would suggest doing a search here, this has been talked about a lot and you might get some pointers.

I have had issues with this and alot of times it seems to move quickly if i go from neutral to park to nuetral. I miss the old manual lock in hubs, they never failed...but you were always muddy
