Woah! cool! you all have pretty nice rides, sounds good, must look good!
:D
I hopefully will own my own Honda soon, but i just dont know when. Im not wealthy like you lot! :(
What car would you all recommend me too? I probably could only spend like 10 grand. Or if i can get my parents to pay some, probably 15-18 grand.
What do u guys think of a:
Honda Prelude (93-97)
Honda Civic (92-95)
Honda Integra (95 model or something)
Toyota MR2
Toyota Celica (i think the 94-95 model)
Nissan Pulsar GTiR
Nissan Siliva S13
Nissan 180SX
Any suggestions? il probably be on twice every week or something, because i got alot of study to do, so dont get upset if i dont reply on time yeah? ;)

definitely get the 180sx and a front cut of s14 200sx, swap EVERYTHING over. 180sx can go for around 10 grand, and a front cut would set u back no more than 3 grand (assumption)... u have some money for a swap if ur too lazy for a direct engine swap and body parts.
GTiR are still going for over 20 g's. to expensive IMO
celica and mr2 engines suck unless u get the 3S-GTE. but they do pull chicks :hehe:
theres too many hondas on the road now :finger:

My recommendation...keep in mind.... can you afford the insurance!!
for 10...you are pushing it with the prelude and integra... you may only get a GSI for that price.
steer clear of imports unless you can afford the insurance.

You could pick up a '90 CRX for ten grand. Otherwise go for a 2G 'teg or '90 Si 4WS 'lude.
Forget the Silvia and 180SX if you want to insure it, it can't be done. I looked at insurance on one (I am really tempted by a S13 at the moment as I can't afford a Jensen Interceptor ATM) and it's bloody expensive - and I have a few years on you :D

Tuan,
If you don't mind the LS shape integra... I had a friend who had a project car, and I don't know if he's sold it yet....
basically needed rego, painting... but has B16a conversion, bodykit...just needs finishing touches. Last he said he was trying to sell it for 10, but I haven't spoken to him for a while. Its probably still sitting in his workshop.

I can't believe Hondas are so damn pricey. Much as I hate to say it, rather than pay 13 grand on a GSI, I'd be spending it on an imported S13 or 180SX or any number of cars that are infinitely better than the GSI. 13 for a VTiR possibly but not a snail's 'teg (and yes, I do know you can't get a VTiR for that price ;) )

yeah the teg is nice...but still holds its value. with the prelude...depends on the shape, and the condition... a lot of people write "A1 condition" and you go see it and it is crap...

HAHAHA. yeah, i can't get off this forum!
i drive a auto too! im only on my L's so i can't drive on my own. i drive my parent's Holden Commodore. haha. i can drive manual too. My dad's Starlet. :D
ok, one more question, if i said that im looking for a car that is:
-maximum price is 10-15 grand. 15 grand because i asked my Parents
and they said they are willing to pay the extra 5 grand. Cool!
-must be a four seater. or 5 seater.
-must be sporty
-must be fast
-must be two door
:) is this a bit impossible to get? like you said Quyen, the Integra Vtir cost more then 15 grand, so thats a no for sure. So is there anything i i can get with the above? it can be any car, toyota, honda, nissan.. umm, jap cars!
i don't think im going to say i will "attempt" to logoff again, its impossible. or i think i should go and isolate myself in my room and lock the study room so i can't reach the computer no more. :p
argh.

Two words: Civic SiR :D
Of course, finding one might be a bit hard
Actually, I nearly got tempted to trade it in today - I could have picked up a S13 with a 180 front end - looked sweet and I was very tempted as they were prepared to give me more trade in value than I spent on the SiR :) I have to stop wandering around car yards
Get a Si EG Civic - for under 10 grand you could have 130bhp in a nice looking Civic (not as nice as the 4G of course) and a lot of money left over to mod it. Insurance would be ok too.
There are some nice Celicas out there if you wanted a nice looking slug and some nice Corollas (well, it's almost an oxymoron - but there are one or two). Older RX7s look damn nice too and are in that bracket.

The ZC in the Si is a nice little motor - lots of torque and good in the city and on the freeway. Definitely go a manual though - Honda and slushboxes are a bad mix, despite the refinements Honda put in them.

hehehe....he's not gonna run out of ideas with you around :p
hehehe...one of my cousins went from a 88 GL slushy... to a 2000 corolla slush box, and was complaining it took forever to get to 60 :p now the corolla has gone to his sister (cause they had to fight over the car) and he's bought a GSI integra slushbox :p
although 101kw aint so bad :p

77 on the EW2 engine I think. Not too bad but the torsion bar suspension was really nice and made them handle like a dream.
EBs were 50-55, ENs were 60 but with a heap more torque than the EBs.
D15Bs in the 4G GL were 98.

yeah the torsion bar makes it handle good but when you put a heavier motor in one you'd like to be able to get firmer springs :(

I still killed the suspension in my 3rd G. It was fine when we were in wollongong....soon as we moved to Sydney... another story....quality of roads up here....so shoddy.

It's possible to get better rated torsion bars and shocks. If you can find a 3G Si front cut you could whack those on. Martin Donnan raced a Si with a 200+ bhp NA ZC in it and there were quite a few suspension tweaks done to it as I understand. Used to own Fueltronics in SA as I recollect. Gary Cook in the Honda Car Club owned an imported 3G Si and knows a fair bit about suspension mods too (he's an advisor to whiteline in his spare time I understand).

Well, without the builders mix handicap, maybe the opposition should run Tannee's Civic :D
